Mattek-Sands suffered the worst on-court injury I've ever seen. She was lying on the ground screaming "help me!" for what seemed like a preposterous amount of time before anyone actually came onto the court to help. That was heartbreaking to watch.

So far, not a great deal of the unexpected, which in itself is fairly unexpected.

They are going to most likely change the rule where the player has to ask for help, especially with an injury like that.. It was basically cirstea her opponent and Bethanies husband next to her until the medics came.. She went into shock for a bit from the pain.. She thanked everyone today from her hospital bed and will undergo most tests today to see the extent of the damage. Cirstea said when she went over to her she saw that her knee was dislocated and was turned around. Darin Cahill said he has never seen a injury like that... I am a huge tennis fan and was watching the match as it unfolded.. She has been through a lot of surgeries on her body as it is.. Hope she will be able to make a complete recovery.. At 32 years of age, it does not get easier to comeback from a injury such as this..

Her doubles partner Lucile safarova was a mess when she heard the news., and she had to play a match herself.. One of her best friends on the tour number 1, and number 2 , they were going to there 4th doubles slam.. What a time for this to happen..

The really painful part for me was seeing that no one of the hundreds of people there watching did anything but stare.

I'm sure there some kind of rules that only medics can help, but good lord, how does a human being with a working empathy system just sit there and watch someone scream for help?

I was really happy to see Frances Tiafoe win his opening round match. He's got a great story, and looks to have a bright future.

I'm intrigued by CiCi Bellis. She has a beautiful, beautiful game. She needs more experience, and to develop some power, but she moves incredibly.

Plus, I look forward to her inevitable doubles partnership with CoCo Vandeweghe.

Them's the rules. The sports federation nazis who run the field-of-play wouldn't have it any other way!

Holy cow! I watched the first two sets and the beginning of the third of the Murray/Querrey match. Wish I would have watched the rest! Go Sam!

Mattek-Sands probably appreciated the thought but just because Cristea steps over the net and stands there doesn't mean she helped either.

Even if a fan decides to get past security and jump the barrier, they'll just end up standing over her.

Garbi's win is a huge positive for female tennis, that's been short of personalities lately.

Roger's got his dibs on the best ever sewn up.

Short of personalities? According to Mac, short of skills (comparatively).

No, I don't think that's what he was saying at all.

BTW, the US Women soccer team got destroyed by the FC Dallas (MLS) U-15 boys team and the US Women are one of the best in the world.
