C100: Will the A7S put the hurt on the C100?

Seeing those rigged up DSLRs Erik posted just makes me appreciate the fact that I can pull my C100 out of the bag and shoot. When I had the FS100 I always hated the feeling that I needed to play erector set with the camera before it was ready to effectively shoot.

Was on a shoot last week with my c100, napping before we started shooting. "Sonofaresiii, we want to be rolling in a half hour, you'd better start building the camera."

"Nah I'm good."

Went back to napping.

Heh experienced the same thing a few times as well!
Show up 1 hour early to setup. I only had to worry about my camera. Couple guys building up everything for a good 30-45 mins. I was ready to go in 5 minutes! Pretty sweet!

These cover the FF image circle do they? I doubt it.

I have the Vizilex ND EF to NEX adapter for my Sony A7. Just tried it with a Canon 24-105L and yes it does cover FF. There aren't any optics in it other than the ND so why wouldn't it cover a FF image circle? It's basically a mechanical adapter with 2 rotating polarizers in it.

Sounds like there's a great solution for NDs and XLR. If it did 10bit internally that would be incredible :)

Yeah. I'm waiting for that updated XLR adapter to come out. I saw it at NAB and it was quite a bit better (as far as run and gun integration) than the existing adapter. The Vizilex ND is ok. You still cannot control aperture on the EF lenses so you'll need a camera nearby to stop down. But it should work great with lenses with aperture dials built in like the Rokinons.

I suppose that means IS doesn't work either.

Very skeptical of the 1800-2000 price tag rumors floating around. Would love to be wrong, but I don't see Sony selling this gem for less than 2600. As hard as the panasonic fanboys try, this camera really is in a league of its own. I for one have been patiently waiting for a DSLR style camera that can shoot great stills AND A QUALITY 1080 signal(a'la c100, c300, 1dc) to a great working codec. There is also that sensitivity feature ;)

Will it hurt the c100 sales? Without a doubt. But that doesn't make it obsolete. Like others have said, the things it does, it does really well.
