will my Nikon lenses work on a Canon 7D???

I own a Nikon D700 and I'm about to take the plunge on a Canon 7D.

I have a number of great Nikon lenses for my Nikon D700:

• AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR I
• AF-S VR Micro-NIKKOR 105mm f/2.8G IF-ED
• AF-S NIKKOR 50mm f/1.4G

Will these work on the Canon 7D or do I need to purchase a Canon adapter for Nikon lenses???

If they fit, then I can just purchase the Canon 7D body and use my Nikon lenses. Otherwise, I would start off with the 18-135mm stock lens with the 7D.

Thanks very much in advance for any advice.

Yes, you lenses will "Work" on an EOS mount camera. However, the adaptors are mechanical adaptors and you will loose the ability to control focus and iris through the camera. I use Nikon lenses on a T2i, but the lenses I have are all manual focus and iris. I know that there are people working on making adaptors for the M 4:3 mount that allows the use of autofocus/auto iris lenses of diffrent manufacture on the M 4:3 cameras, but I do not know that is a development that is available for Nikon to EOS mount adaptors yet.

Any Nikon lens with a manual aperture ring will work fine. No aperture ring... sorry. This is why I refuse to by proprietary lenses. They just walk you down a bad path.

is there a certain suffix or prefix in the model number that's going to let you know whether or not it can be manually controlled (assuming they don't have a photo of it on there)?

Thanks everybody.

I forgot to mention that I also have three Zeiss lenses:
the 85mm Planar T f1.4, Planar T 50mm f1.4, and Distagon T 35mm f2.

Will these fit also, or do I need to purchase an adapter for my Zeiss lenses?
