Wide, sort of fast, lenses?

Hey everyone!

So. I recently got a T2i, along with a 50mm 1.8, and the kit lens. Now, I am also getting an adapter for my SMC Pentax-M 40mm 2.8, and my SMC - Pentax A 50mm F/2.0 lenses. (along with a Nikon one for the school lenses I can take out for free)

so, this leaves me with two 50 mm, along with a 40mm (The 40 is my favorite lens I've ever used, back before my stills camera broke >_<)
So, essentially, I would like something wider (preferably wider than 35) and maybe something longer as well (70?)

Help please.

Note: I am on a tight budget (I can't give exact numbers but around the 100$ range would be good)

I know that this is a long shot budget-wise, but if anyone could help that would be great.

Not such a long shot with the Pentax adapter. The Pentax-M 28mm f/2.8 gets good marks on the Pentax Forums, and it's not uncommon to find it on eBay well within your price range.

An even better option, if you can track one down, is the Pentax-M 28mm f/2. It seems to be pretty rare, and the couple times I've seen it up for sale the prices have been wildly divergent (e.g., of the two users at the Pentax Forums that have reviewed it, one bought it for $71 and the other for $379). I have one that belonged to my father, and I really, really adore it. You can see some footage I shot with it here:

Oooh... That is very pretty! Thank you! (I just remembered that my uncle has some old Pentax lenses as well he was going to give me before my old camera broke so I'll check with him before I go buy some stuff)

what's great about the 50mm I have right now take forever to focus thoiugh. the ring take a full 180 degree turn to go from infinity to 0.45 metres haha

O.K. So, update. I got my Pentax adapter (accidentally sent the nikon one to the wrong adress so it will be awhile to get it back :P) and I love it. the 40mm is very soft on the edges wide open, which is one of the reasons I loved it so much, the 50mm I haven't used a whole lot yet because, well, I've been in love with the 40 haha.

I should have some examples up soon. anyone have any other lens suggestions?

I'll check them out, but man Rockmore. You love those photodiox adaptors :P

To be honest I only have one fotodiox adapter and never tried any others. It's well machined and very cheap. Fotodiox answered me personally by Email a few times when I was looking. Good customer service is as important as a good product. When I find a reliable supplier I will usually stick with them. They are in Chicago and back up the product 24 months which is a plus.

Ooohhh.... That sounds good. Customer service is awesome

Fun fact about my pentax adapter: my 50mm F/2 slips on, but my 40mm F2.8, I have to man ually move the spring to put it on the adapter (both of them I ahve to manually move the spring to get it off) A little annoying, but other than that it works great!

Also, because it's so cheap, I will be getting the M42 adapter, as my uncle had some M42 lenses I may be able to buy for cheap.

O.K. so. update:

I got my Uncle's lenses. I need to buy a Konica adapter, with a lens element so I can focus to infinity, but I got:
Konika 50mm 1.8
Konica 28mm f/3.5
Pentax 80-200 F/4.5
Vivitar 70-210 macro F/3.5
2X vivitar skylight (1a) filters
1X Hoya circular polarizer filter
and a 2X converter.

so... I am very happy. Granted, the focal plane is way off so I cannot focus on anything farther than about a foot on the 28mm, and farther than about a metre on the 50mm.
