Wide Lenses for Video Suggestions

I currently have the Olympus 14-54mm MkI which I use at 14mm for my wider shots.
I was thinking about buying the SLR Magic 12mm 1.6 or the Samyang (Rokinon) 14mm 2.8 for wide shots.
Would the SLR Magic or the Samyang be an upgrade for when I shoot at this range? Or should I stick with olympus at 14mm.

I also have the Sigma 24mm 1.8 and a Canon Fd 50mm 1.4

Is the SLRMagic 12mm delivering yet?

I offer modification of the Fujinon-TV 12.5mm/f1.4 for m4/3 sensor coverage
significantly more affordable than the SLRMagic 12mm. My latest version of
the modification covers the entire m4/3 sensor in all modes. There is just slight
darkening of the corners in 4:3 aspect.

You can check out full res samples at www.ekoecamera.com
There is also a user review and video by Gekopaca at the bottom of the
Fujinon-TV 12.5mm page.

Because I am after high performance ( sharp wide open, little vignetting, little flare ) I would be looking at the Olympus 12mm f/2.0 lens, over the alternatives. ( I can always make an image softer in post, but trying to make it sharper often doesn't work, so starting with sharp images is the way to go for me )

Yes.... the hyper prime is shipping. I think that you'd be very surprised by the sharpness and how it compares to the Olympus. It's also registering in Tstops and is click free on the aperture... and ohh yes, it's 300 bucks less. To me its VERY similar to the .95 voigtlander and I love this lens. I plan on getting the Olympus but more for it's autofocusing for if and when I fly steadicam... BUT also the hyper prime is pretty awesome cause most things are in focus from 4' and beyond.....

cheers

I have two big problems with the 12mm f/1.6 Hyper Prime:

1- Not sharp wide open, or even at f/2.0. The Olympus is completely sharp wide open.

2- Terrible flare when high contrast light sources are in the shot. ( like the sun, stage lights, street lights, etc... ) The Olympus has very well controlled flare, so these type of shots are not a problem.

I use a 16x9 EXII 0.6x wide angle converter, 82mm thread, originally from my HVX, for shots with the 14-140 kit lens wider than 14. The quality is actually very good for a converter lens, but it does barrel distort.

For maximum quality, the Olympus 12/2 or Lumix 7-14 will be better choices.
