Why are YOU famous?

Anyone ever see someone in movies (more than one) or TV shows and you wonder, "How are YOU famous? You're not funny. You're not even interesting. Why are you still working? I hate watching you!"

My vote: Kenan Thompson. Totally unfunny.
 
Kathy Griffin... not sure if she's been in movies, but I'd rather have a power blackout than see her on my tv. I dont get it.
 
I ask that question. I also very often ask "Why do I care about your political views?" Somehow their job as performers affords them a special political pulpit not allowed for the rest of us.
I'm sorry if I shouldn't have mentioned that in your thread. It really is a major annoyance for me. Maybe their acting would be better if they concentrated on the craft and didn't worry so much about everything else. Just a thought.

Agreed! It doesn't matter a hill of beans to me who my parents are supporting, much less the Hannah Montana or my least favorite opinionated celeb: Oprah!

Her last name and because she got ****ed on camera. That pretty much sums it up. The fascination people have with sex tapes is insanity. Same thing can be said for Kim Kardashian. Why is she famous? Same reasons.

Paris Hilton may not be the smartest person in the world, but she has taken an embarissing situation and has turned it into many millions of dollars. Her name is basically a brand now. Reminds me of that Entourage episode where all the agencies are trying to sell Vince as a brand.

A show called celebrities uncensored made her famous. A show I believe she funded. I knew nothing about her until this show.

Yes. He was on SNL last time I saw him. A friend of mine passed some stuff off to him to show to some people. I don't know how it worked out.

He has the dick routine down to a science though. I've seen the other side of him (the side that seems to be disappearing) and he actually isn't a bad guy. But I spent enough time with him (2 days) to see the OTHER side as well, and yeah, he is a master of it.
 
Paris Hilton is totally understandable. She started rich, shallow and flaunting her unearned fortune in the most brazen way possible "I'm a rich *****, in your face". Worked. People loved to hate her. The privileged kid who flaunts it. What attracted people - disgust, jealousy, envy, anger. If she were poor, you can bet your sweet behind nobody would care. But undeserved rich, who doesn't try to compensate by being "good" - yeah, that's the ticket. That's what her (and Nicole Ritchie) entire show was about. In the end I think she got disowned, but now she's making a ton of cash just by notoriety, club appearance payments, endorsements etc. A girl you love to hate. Doesn't matter if you love or you hate - as long as you are not indifferent. As they say "scandals are good for business", and "controversy sells". So the sex tape thing worked great for her, even if that was not her initial plan. Reminds me of the old saying about publicity "I don't care if they write bad things about me, as long as they spell my name right". You are a known quantity - a "brand", and that is ALL that matters.

So am I surprised she's famous? Not one bit.
 
I guess I'm the only one here who likes Andy Dick. His short lived MTV sketch show was great IMO :)

My vote goes for Carlos Mencia & Jessica Simpson (especially as an actress)
