i own 2 gh1 ,a gh2,gf1 and a gf3. all hacked except for the gf3.

i usually lean towards what i am most comfortable using with an intent to use it for specific reasons. Why do i use the gh13 more than i do the rest.

here is my rank of use

1.gh13 50 percent of the time
2.gf3 (unhacked) 30 percent of the time
3.gh2 15 percent of the time
4.gf1 5 percent of the time

You use the gh13 more often because your father once shook hands with a bearded man named Florence.

Or maybe you have a different, more informed answer.

Because the Gh1's are in the front of the cabinet and you don't want to reach the back and risk dropping the front cameras out of the cabinet.

LOL ! oh well,
1.ergonomics it is not,
2.technical features it is not,
3.usage habit,maybe.....
4.stability, maybe
5. i was hoping you guys can make the absurd inputs on these...

.....what i am saying is, are we just looking for bitrates and best patches for each camera?
......because that would be your grandfather shaking hands behind the old cabinet with a guy name LOLA !

It is simple.
The best camera is the camera you know and master.

Yo seems to know your GH1 better than the 2 and therefore use it more because you know how it reacts. Just like me with my Gh2 and my HPX170. If I need something for documentary, I will use my HPX because I know how it works and how it reacts in various situations and don't have to double check everything.

agreed. i got my gh2 a couple days before my one month euro trip. felt so uncomfortable with the darn thing for at least a week and wished it was like the gh1. when i came back and picked up the gh1 i now find that strange to use.

Oh, boy. I read the OP in this thread and felt my IQ drop. One of the mods in the Cafe section mentioned that DVXuser is going to go to the up/down voting - personally I can't wait, that way a lot of garbage can get downvoted so it saves time for others.

Because the image of the GH-2 is nicer than the GH-1 but because of the extra grain you don't want to have to work so hard to remove it. Instant gratification. :-)

With a GH13 and GH2, I'm using the GH2 90% and GH13 10%. The GH2 tele-crop function is the main reason why I got it, and it's been fantastic.

The GH13 + 14-140 is still my favorite combo for travel and all around shooting, and I use the GH2 with the 100-300.

ps, for low-light, I have a 7D and T3i with faster lenses in EOS mount.

For me Its not grain its noise I see with the GH2 hacked or unhacked. I believe that is why people think the GH2 is sharper. I love the features of the GH2 has to offer but Id rather have a clean GH1 image then a noisier GH2 image for my work. Which works out to be 90% GH1 - 10% GH2.

That's basically my feeling, but I since I have both cameras, I run them both at the same time. My GH1 is always slightly cleaner--less noise. Whether the GH2 resolves more detail, I can't say. A week of testing shows that it doesn't, but I quit after I saw the GH1 had less noise and artifacts. There may be a small difference, visible with certain types of material.

I couldn't shoot anything over 800 iso due to fpn with my gh1. Got a gh2, shooting 3200. No problem.

With the Rigs hack I was able to shoot clean video up to ISO 1250 and ISO 1000 looked pretty much the same as ISO 800. In decent lighting I use ISO 1600 no problem, but in dim light no question FPN is an issue. The thing is, with legacy primes there are very few situations in which I go higher than ISO 800--the sweet spot for the GH1. Most of the indoor events will work fine ISO 400-100, F2~F4.
And for really dim light, well, sorry Panasonic, I borrow a 5D MK2 which also takes great photos.
