Yes, limiters are taken down now. Every resolution and framerate seems to be possible now, because there are no limitations anymore. Those evil bastards at Canon, not even light speed is the limit for sensor reading anymore.:grin:

I try to remain fairly neutral on almost every matter. I try to allow the facts to shape my view of reality. I don't see enough facts here to express a view....because there simply are not enough facts. I see some inconsistencies...and some limitations that I prior have perceived....so....any doubt I think is not "entirely unjustified". (No judgment on the doubters) I am required to confess that I was a doubter and that I rolled my eyes when a Russian member here (rough around the edges with the people skills) asked for volunteers for a GH1 hack. (Yeah like that's going to happen) :)

I AM NOT SAYING that this is the same....because....well....it's not. (This guy isn't 'Tester13', the GH1 isn't the T2i, and 4K hasn't been realized on a DSLR PERIOD) So....I'm aware that the facts are not supporting this claim much....(if at all).

I'm not judging anyone here (on either side, doubter/believer, scientist, realist, fantasy-lover-looking-for-UFOs)

I AM....going to wait for some more facts, (not hold my breath until then..DUH)....but, time will reveal won't it? :)

I'm nobody's fool, but I do have my finger's cross. I'm hoping those d***heads actually pulled this thing off. If not... ML is a great consolidation.
 
right and i've just written a hack for 32k RAW. Try beating that ! :P bleh ... and ive incorporated a new colour space as well HSV-N-J (Hue-Saturation-Value-NoiseRemoval-JelloRemoval) by implementing SIFT algorithm and also kalman filtering for accurate feature recoginition color reproduction mainly for real-time jello removal and robust image quality with no compromise of details . :P

I disliked this guy attitude towards hackers during so called "conference" , he insulted them and if he mean that then he also insulted the other guy who hacked cam to get thieir 4K.He wasnt professional or believable at all.
And stuff that he said "grain is less noticeable in 4k" makes me want to slap his face,its irritating to listen to irrational stuff like this,also they can record as long as they want in 4k byt theyre putting limi of 6 secs for now is super lame thing to say.
And ridiculous statement that he broke camera by shooting mlantern at qscale -16.

Some moron's going to have a little laugh about how he had everyone going, but it's really pretty stupid. Spend that energy doing something productive.

Heh...thanks Ian. I'm fully aware (as I'm sure you are) that the naysayers are most likely correct. That said....I'm still not judging. Glad he set a deadline though....and one so close too....this way there won't be much time for debate and BS. Just 12 days....as I said....not holding my breath. I'll check it out in 2 weeks and go from there. Time to plan tomorrow's shoot! :)

I don't really need 16k, could you rather make a hack so it can be used as a disco light / fog machine-combo as well? I have this party coming...
 
Im shocked people are still trying to believe this could be real. Did he mention anything about connecting a blower to the cam. Because thats what it would need to be able to keep it cool enough to shoot 8k. I cant even keep the damn thing from overheating at stock settings on a fairly hot day. Never mind 4k, 8k, and the funniest of all 16k. , I cant even type this without chuckling. it's just funny.
 
I know higher than 1080p could theoretically be possible on something like a d3s or 1dmark4 given they already can shoot about 10fps full res raw- making the "pipes" and sensor possibly fast enough, but the 5d and t2i can only shoot a few still frames per second- unless the manufacture just limited that via software (highly unlikely) then I think we were already getting the max movie frame size out of the camera at 1080.

Never the less, I am always hopeful for hackers to push consumer cameras to the limits. Hopeful it's real, guess we will find out soon enough.
 
Exactly, Hunter. The T2i can shoot, what, like 3fps in continuous shooting mode at 4K-ish resolution? How the hell is it going to be ramped up to 24fps? Even the 7D can't manage more than 7fps (all of these are from the top of my head, so I may be off by a frame or so).

It sounds like someone claiming they can hack your TV's firmware to make it 3D.
