Where's the latest camera update?

Thanks T. Do I just find a way to put this on the SD card and the camera's upgraded?

I'm having a problem with my firewire output. it works fine, but I can't seem to feed over it. But it's not fried or anything.

I have one. I'll drop the file there and then put it in the camera again and then it's done? Sorry for newbie questions. I THINK I did it once, just can't remember.

Thanks Ramsey and T.

and you have to put it in the proper directory. Then go to the MCR menu and choose the new "update" command. There's a PDF that has all the instructions on it.

Put it in the camera... go to MCR mode and fish around in there... Should be something that says "UPDATE"... can't remember off hand myself...

Just make sure you have got plenty of battery, or better yet plug it up when you run the firmware update. It takes some time. Follow the onscreen directions and it's easy

EDIT: That's twice today, Barry.

I personally prefer a fully charged battery to AC power when doing firmware upgrades.

Kholi, there is a PDF document with upgrade procedure instructions next to the firmware download link. Copy the firmware image onto the SD card in the specified location, and then when you go into the OPERATIONS menu in MCR mode, you should see an UPDATE option.

Thanks everyone. Hope this fixes my firewire issue. I think it's because I reset the camera when I took it apart.

e_e;

I would strongly recommend that you save your camera configuration in a USER file on the SD card once you get it set up again the way you like it. That way you won't have to worry about this issue the next time you feel like taking the camera apart, or work with someone else's camera.

I actually had it all saved. It's either when I took the camera apart or decide to format the SD card. Not sure if that had any effect.

It's weird, because I can feed video over the Firewire (1080i/24, 480i/24) into Final Cut Pro and record everything... but I can't Log and transfer into Final Cut.

It freezes.

It's either the firmware or I need to re-install FCP. And we all know how fun THAT is. =D

is there anyway to check in the camera menu's what firmwire version my camera has installed on it?

I just got my camera two months ago.. just wanna make sure I have the most current firmware.

The main thing is that it allows the use of 16gig p2 cards. There are some other things as well, but I don't really know them off hand... Hours usage meter has been added, a different way to use the metadata has been added, which you can read about in the articles section... Other than that, I dont' know off hand.

I wish they'd use the firmware updates to really push some new features into the camera, but as of yet it has *mostly* been reserved for allowing the use of larger p2 cards

Jason

Thanks Jason, I agree with you on the update issue. We could use some more features than just the p2 upgrade, but we will take it for now.

I don't think you'll see more features added via a firmware update to this version of the HVX200.

Wish I was wrong, but I don't see it happening based on what I've read here in the last two years.

I would tend to agree, unfortunately... but that is a very sad. That's what it's there for right? It's a unique feature. It should have been taken advantage of all along... There are things in the 200a request thread, that I would imagine could be done via a firmware upgrade. Not all of course, and probably not even most... But, they should be using it...

Ah well...
