When is Adobe support for FS700 and Odyssey 7q coming?

Adobe Update

Adobe Update

I am informed that Adobe Creative Cloud now properly supports the cDNG files from the Odyssey7Q. Adobe CC must have the latest updates installed and one must not use FILE IMPORT but instead MEDIA BROWSER.

Sorry, I'm not well-versed enough in Adobe CC to give further details at this time.

Premiere does display properly. I have noticed sometimes I get that greenish cast if I bring footage right into Speedgrade, though.

I will say, however that I will try file import vs media browser for Premiere, After Effects, and Speedgrade.

Mitch (or anyone else), any idea if this just applies to footage shot on the latest firmware?

**I'm waiting to finish a few projects before updating to most recent CC update, so I can't test myself quite yet

I find the colors still a little off in Premiere and Speedgrade, its a lot improved from before but stlll a little off, not sure if they are stlll working on it or not...

I know when i imported RAW to PP, it automatically had a magenta tint +10 for some reason. Had to right click and adjust source (or whatever the wording is). But in general, the color didn't seem quite right. So glad the Pro Res UHD is here, just going with that for now.

Yeah, I agree, the colors still seem a little off with the raw files in Premiere/Speedgrade, 4k Pro Res looks great though!

The RAW into Speedgrade is still coming in green. You have to go into Premiere Pro first still. It isn't TOO big of a deal but for me I prefer to take the RAW footage and do a first light on it to see if it is even useable and worthwhile before anything else. And then I transcode the clips to 10 bit something smaller to work with in editing.

Having to bring into Premiere Pro first is just an extra hastle of a bunch of steps I wish I didn't have to do.

Unless I have a setting wrong I don't know of?

Hello, all--

Can anyone recommend a good LUT for viewing S-Log2 footage in Premiere CC? Just want something 709-ish to make the viewing experience a bit better for clients prior to grading. Thanks.

Thanks for the tip Stefan. But these LUTs that you've recommended make my S-Log2 RAW footage look even darker than it was prior to applying the LUT. Am I missing something here?

the footage will more or less get a massive bump in contrast. if you exposed to far to the right, the whites will clip easier. if you exposed a bit more to the left, the blacks will clip easier. it will look perfectly fine if your footage is exposed properly.

The thing though, with slog2 is that most of us expose so, that we retain as much detail in hi's and low's as possible - high DR scenes where your blacks almost clip, and your whites almost clip - that's where these LUT's become useless and throw away to much.

if you had shot with this LUT assigned in the Odyssey - which we obviously can't do yet - exposing it would have been easier - but your 12 or 13 stop camera would certainly have lost a few stops going this route.

BTW, these LUT's are meant to be used with F5/F55 cameras, not sure if there is such a big difference though.
works for me, and the client gets a bit more colored previews :)

No LUT will ever be working with FS700 because its DR rating makes SLOG2 kill everything in the shadows coz of grain. Only and best possibility is to expose ttr, lose DR, get clean image. The only LUT that could be assigned is keep the exposure, just pushing saturation and contrast.

Is the grain just as horrible on the FS7?

Wouldnt it make sense to make a color and sat LUT, and just throw a ProcAmp effect on each clip with a -5 or -9 setting to get exposure in the correct scale?

I have been using Vision Colors IMPULZ LUTS and they can create some really great looks once you do further grading. But these free ones in this link below (Alisters A7s filmic LUTS) have been more consistently quick for me to use to get a good starting point. The thing that I like so much about them is that within the 3 different LUTS he supplies sub category options for 1 stop over, 2 stops over, 3 stops over, or 0 stops over. This helps so much to get a quick grip on having the appropriate contrast happening. I personally find myself gravitating to FILMIC LOOK 2 the most.

Here is the link. Best of luck!
