SPZ is short for my name. It actualy came up when I was playing arcade games back in the eighties. You could only sign your name with 3 letters, so, SPZ it was. Now I use it to sign works that go a bit off from my own filmmaking language. Call it my "rebel signature"
my screenname is my production company name. My Dad and I worked on a farm when I was growing up. My Dad still works on the farm raising pigs, and crops. When I got into filmmaking I wanted something that would be unique, and my own. So I took our farm name, and tacked on Productions at the end of it.
Ever see that stupid movie with Vin Diesel a couple years ago called The Pacifier ... I mean, XXX? Well, unfortunately, I did. When I got home, AOL had this "create your OWN secret spy name" generator based off that movie. I typed in Alec Sprinkle (my name ... yes, really), and Hawk Teflon came up. I've used it since. It's just easier to remember since I've used it SO long now. Also, if people need to find me, I tell them to google "hawkteflon" and they'll find me... everywhere.
friends used to call me chrispy from my first name and last initial. then eminem did slim shady, and they started putting the slim in front. slim chrisp.
My name is Wade. I once grew a mustache. Everybody thought it made me look Mexican. So they started calling me Wadro, even though I shaved it off after only a few days..
re: Raptor:
It's a bird, it's a plane, it's...oh, it's you.
It began as Baseless Raptor, an xbox tag suggested by the xbox system. I later tried changing it to Raptor but it was already taken so 365 was added and voila.
I do not watch the Toronto Raptors 365 days a year.
Well, it is true that my name is random but I never told the whole story. After seeing Raptor's post I realize it was a similar one, so here goes...
I was trying to come up with a new screen name to use online for various things. I was tired of my naive 6th grade MSN account name and I didn't know where to go from there. I found an online name generator and typed in "Penguin" one of the results just happened to be that with "Conspiracy" tacked onto the front. I liked it because it was mysterious, random and crazy. I think I only used it for one thing before finding DVXUser, now I basically only use it here because it's cooler that way.
DeepFocus, in reference to the cinematic technique. One day a bunch of my friends were sitting at a diner with some randoms and this guy at the other end of the table was talking about Orson Welles and how he achieved "deep focus" in Citizen Kane. Naturally, I felt it would be a great name for a porn movie company, so I jokingly latched onto it through the years. Sorry to disappoint, the company has yet to see the light of day.
88 in reference to 1988, which was a good year for hardcore music in New York and Connecticut, at least on a personal level. Kind of like the spirit of '76, but with more stage dives & mosh parts.
