What's wrong with the Panasonic Web Site

The Panasonic pages have never been great, this one got worse since the last update.

At least they're half-admitting the issue of the weak firewire port. I can't believe they're supporting an army of professional and prosumer camcorders with a two-bit web page like that. The link you click to get to this page? "P2 support and dounload".

I would argue that the first improvement they should make to the HVX200a should be to fix the web site.

That goes for so many companies these days...

Panasonic's Pro-Video website isn't really that bad though. All the important information is there (though maybe not organized the very best way).
I just spent a few minutes installing all the P2 drivers & software on a new laptop and had no trouble with the process.

... Regarding the firewire port, don't forget about siniarch's awsome "FireWire Saver"

That was nice find!

If someone could find some proper BNC plugs for the component out that doesn't fall off or kill the cam as you move...

I have to disagree, and it seems to be the consensus at this board and others that it is confusing and disorganized.

That's why the Professor's site is so appealing. Also Barry posted a stickie with a bunch of links.

It is poorly organized, and difficult to navigate. Moreover, the file download organization and structure is maddening.

The Panasonic site leaves A LOT TO BE DESIRED. That's almost an understatement. I've said this before and will say it again, it's not a very user friendly site. It can be very frustrating looking for what you need on there. Using Barry's link in the sticky is very helpful. If they weren't there, I don't know how I would be able to tolerate being on the Panasonic site.

They need a new web team or maybe it's Panasonic itself that likes it the way it is. If I myself owned or was a higher up at Panasonic, I would be extremely disapointed at the website situation.
Sony's site isn't much better, but then look at other sites like Apple or most major company sites. It's 10-100 times easier to find what you are looking for.

HVX manual is on the panasonic.com site, the drivers and firmware are on panasonic.co.jp, and other material is on panasonic.biz. I think sales is in the US and support is in Japan. Some languages have MUCH better support pages, like Spanish. I've actually been using the Spanish language page to find some resources for english-speakers.

They spend plenty of money on good translations and web site design to SELL the cameras (see http://www.panasonic.com/business/provideo/p2/index.asp), no surprise there.

yeah i agree, i think the panasonic website is crap, its confusing and looks a bit cheap. I dont understand why they dont have 1 main page with everything on it.. something clean and easy to browse showing all the products and links to software downloads.

It doesn't even seem hard to do but who knows what the higher ups at Panny think. Maybe they actually think the site looks great and is easy to navigate.....

Btw, the downloads page looks like it's from 1992. Actually, that's too much of a compliment...

iWeb looks 10000 times better than the Panasonic downloads page.
What did they use to make the downloads page, Dreamweaver negative 5? (before it was ever thought of)
