What's the "1D MKIV"?

No digic V but 1080p 50p cool, S-RAW video? sounds cool, XLR audio module cool, fold and tilt LCD sounds cool. It's a MKII on steroids. I wasn't expecting that many megapixels and full frame.

The 1TB flash recording module suggests it can capture at a very high bit-rate.

Where did you see 1080 50p, Squig? What I see is that there are no PAL framerates!!! Say it ain't so!

Sorry I didn't actually see 50p, I got a bit excited but it does say 24-60p so I figure it will have everything in between like the 7D. The actual specs aren't out yet these are still rumoured specs but actual specs should be out in the next few hours.
Seeing as this thing is geared for the olympics and world cup it has to have PAL support.

yeah but it sounds like it could be twice the camera and up there with a camera that shall remain nameless costing more than 5 times as much.

Interesting...especially if they release these modules that attach to the camera to make it more geared for video. Wonder where they got that idea. :evil:

I've been expecting it ever since canon took notice of us and did the manual firmware update, they're just much better resourced for R&D than RED to bring something to market quickly.

If the dream specs are true and it's coming in at 5K, that's definitely a slingshot in red territory. Crazy...and for the (rumored) price of a brand new HPX170.

Well I apologize, but I think you are, for whatever reason, blowing the aliasing issue way out of proportion. I have yet to get a shot that is anywhere near unusable due to it.

I understand from a technical "I-want-to-see-every-pixel-on-this-chart-represented-accurately" point of view that no current implementation is ideal. I love perfect, clean footage as much as anybody. But I've worked with FAR WORSE footage from real hollywood films and primetime tv series. This stuff really is pretty great, all things considered.

I don't think so, he's just showing what it is. All thngs considered I think it is an awsome cam for $1700. I sure want to know the weakness to work around it.

Dream specs is right. I can't believe this will be true. If it is (and I don't think so, but MAN DO I HOPE SO), it will be more than 5K.
