What monitors are people using with their AF100?

Using the LH900A which is fabulous, built like a tank and has a waveform... but it was expensive, and I hate the little cable that goes from the control box to the monitor...and its too heavy to mount on the camera...so I also have been noodling getting something lighter/smaller...probably the Marshall as I've used a friends a few times...but all this talk about the smallhd has me intrigued.
I'm currently using the BT-LH80, and would say all the same things -- built like a tank, has the waveform (and the pixel-to-pixel, which is so handy on the AF100), but yes it was expensive, and powering it is nowhere near as convenient as these new little monitors with their little batteries, and it's too big and heavy to use on-camera. So I've been looking at the TV Logic, and keep getting sidetracked by the reports on the Cineroid... no major rush though, and the way things are going and how quickly monitors are coming out, I figure I can wait the five weeks and see what'll happen at NAB.

If I had to have one right now, I think I'd go with the TV Logic.

for studio I use also the Panasonic BT-LH80...for run and gun I use the Ikan v5600...not crazy about it though...I need to find something else. Colors seems always off to me. For reference and framing it is ok...but not stellar.

I was oh-so-close to buying the SmallHD and if I hadn't missed out on the "group purchase" of about 45 days ago, I would be the owner of one. But instead, I went for the TVLogic (turned out a bit more expensive re taxes), but I am extremely happy with it. The features and execution are amazing, it was my first purchase of a monitor of this sort, and I expect it to last me many years, long beyond my HMC-150

My vote is for the TV Logic 5.6". Been shooting interviews all over the state this week and I find myself trusting it more than the 17" Panasonic monitor.

The ikan V8000 is an extremely old monitor. I would probably recommend ikan's VX7 or VX9 because both have HD-SDI in and out. Here is a link to the VX7.

Thanks. the v8000 has bnc connectors, and I have the deluxe version. I already own it from use with my jib, just thought I'd just borrow it from my jib from time to time instead of buying a separate one for use with the AF100

An Ikan v8000 owner here and I really do not like it.

Cheap battery mount (one actually cracked on me, the second had poor battery contacts), the 1/4" mounting point is just about sunk into the monitor rendering the mount just about useless.

How is the little TV Logic in Sunlight?

I've seen it hooked up to an F3 indoors where it looked very good, but much of my work is outdoors in bright sunshine, so my go to monitor has been Marshall's "Super Transflective" V-LCD651ST.

But it's a bit bulky due it's 4:3 aspect ratio, & I'd like something more compact. I've also considered converting it to HD-SDI, but probably won't in case Canon comes out with a much improved dSLR.

I often run a 5" Marshall for the focus puller, or director, & on occasion, my CineRoid EVF. The CineRoid is OK, but the color/contrast could be better, plus it's hard to mount to a compact shoulder rig without becoming a bit kludgy. HotRodCamera is working on a better mount, but the need to keep the AF100's LCD open to access controls makes mounting the EVF less than ideal.

I've noticed that all of my monitors hold less highlight & shadow when compared to the AF100's EVF & LCD. Perhaps I'm not calibrating these quite right, but also wonder if it has anything to do with the HDMI output & whether I'd be better off with SDI?

Best,
Bern

If anyone is interested, I'm selling my new TV Logic 5.6" monitor. Wish I didn't have to as it's amazing. It's available in the Marketplace.
