What mic for the Canon G30

Love the camera, but I am bummed I did not get the XLR mic inputs.
Most of my mics need phantom power.
So I use the audio from my HMC150 when I use both cameras.
What are some other options I have.
I saw this mic
Canon WM-V1 Wireless Microphone is specifically designed for use with Canon VIXIA HF G10

I am not sure if it works with the G30.
I never used a Bluetooth wireless unit before. Range is 164 feet. The size is a little bigger then any lav mic I have seen. Not sure if it would be distracting.
I have the Zoom 4Hzn and maybe there is a way to attach and use that on top of the G30, because it takes XLR inputs, is there a way to direct feed into the camera? I will check.

What options are you guys using with your G10, G30, G40

I want to use XLR input , but we are limited to the mini jack for this.
Maybe Rode and Seinhiezer make a phantom power adapter for the mini jack. I have one for one of my other mics.
thanks for your time.

With My XA10 i used my RSVM and never used the XLRs and now with my HF-G30 it works fine,i think any good external will work with the G30.

You can attach the H4n to the top of the G30 with a shoe mount, and connect the headphone output of the H4n to the mic input of the G30 with a Sescom cable.

The shoe mount on the Canon G30 is just Canon's proprietary mini-advanced shoe. While one can buy an adapter to install a regular cold shoe on it, I would really hesitate putting anything substantial in size and weight on it. The H4n would be a bit too big and heavy, in my opinion. The mount just does not come across as being that strong or sturdy.

It would be much better to use some type of bracket with a cold shoe, if that is the route you decide to go.

All Canon microphones designed for the G10 will work just fine with the G30, including Canon's super lightweight DM-100 Stereo Shotgun Microphone, which is actually quite decent if you want a compact and light shotgun mic for handheld shooting.

Are you looking for solutions for handheld shooting, tripod work, or both??
