GH2 What lens do you keep on your GH2 the most?

According to FedEx, my choice will change to the X-Vario 12-35/2.8 on some date between July 3-5 [danceofjoy]

I love my Canon fd 24mm, 28mm, I also absolutley love my vivitar 19mm. Found it on ebay cheap under 200.00 brand new in box. and it is just beautiful on the gh2. It has a terrible throw, slow as molases, it breathes badly, soft as butter wide open, and the construction is just avg, BUT... when you stop it down, it becomes pure magic, just beautiful!!! especially for cloudy sky sunset shots, or landscape. WOW is all I can say.
I hate the pani lens that it came with 14-42 I think it was. It doesn't have one redeeming quality. It's utter garbage in every sense of the word. I have never used a lens that I disliked more, and that includes stock lenses on cams like the hv30, xha1, ect....

I need to look into the 20mm pancake, seems a lot love it. And it works with the gh2, which has to be great for run n gun stuff.

I'm still learning about lenses, so I tend to bounce around a bit. FWIW, I tend to shoot more video than stills.

I use a Panasonic 20mm/1.7 and vintage Canon 50mm/1.8, depending on the crop I'm after.

In brighter light, I'll use my Panasonic 14-140mm, as it's flexible and works well for video.

I just received an old Vivitar 55mm/2.8 Macro that I anticipate using a lot. Its big and clunky, but pretty sharp and does the macro thing better than any of my other lenses.

If I could only have one lens, it would be the 20mm/1.7.

I find myself leaving the Canon Fd 24mm f2.8 on the most. I just picked up the FD 35mm f2 though, and I've been enjoying that one a lot as well.

Mostly the Canon FD 1.4 50mm.

Eyeing up the Voightlander 25mm though, which I think will take it's place.

I have the pancake, and find it way too sharp and video-like. But I keep it for autofocus situations.

Err, no one uses the other pana Pancake lens? 14mm 2.5?
Its no "stunner", but i decided to grab one and its a pretty nice lens for my steady-cam work... but any reason to go for a different lens? (Just bought it, so i havent throughly tested it)
I was on the ropes about which lenses to grab, but the 20mm just seemed too much of a zoom and steady-cam work is usually done in broad daylight so no need for lowlight. Before i used the kit (14-45) mostly for steady-cam stuff, also the f-stop is usually a bit high anyhow since your moving and keeping focus is what is most important.

Anyhow i use Nikon Primes for my follow focus rig, 35 f2, 50 f1.4, 24-70 f2.8, 85 f1.4.

Voigtlander 25mm for me, followed by the Panasonic 20mm/1.7 and SLR Magic 12mm.

I may be ignorant to some settings and the experts please tell me what they are if I am, but with no OIS & slow auto focus this lens doesn't seem to be "good run & gun" for video. It does take great pictures & video when stabilized.

Why would you need ois on a 20mm lens? If you cant g et a steady shot at 20mm, then your drinking to much coffee. Not to mention 20mm, has a pretty deep focus considering, It's not a lens where your gonna be racking that much. But as I stated, I have never used it, and think it would be worth checking out.

Its between the Tokina 28-70 and Sigma 30 1.4. I don't like the focus ring on the Sigma with a FF as it has a rough motion but handheld I love it. The Tokina is just very convenient with little optical trade off.

Mine is the Sigma 30mm 1.4. Even though I have quite a few other lenses that clamor to be used, I keep on going back to that one without fail.

Voigtlander 25mm. I've heard great things about the Sigma 30mm though, glad to see you like it!

I bought the Sigma 30mm f/2.8 EX DN MFT Mount because of L1n3arx's videos, but it's nowhere near the quality of the version he is using. Has a quite bland quality to it - too sharp, like a poor man's 20mm pancake.

Hmm.. that's interesting to note. I've never had the chance to use the 2.8 MFT version. One thing I will say though, getting a Sigma lens can be a lot like the lottery. Sigma has notorious QC issues that certainly won't guarantee a perfect copy every time. I've personally used a vastly inferior 30mm 1.4, much softer than the version I use- so I know bad copies get around.

But considering price, I would naturally expect the 2.8 to not be up to the quality of the EOS version. You can find them on ebay for under $350, so for $150 more, you could get the 1.4.

For anything above f2, 2.8 or above etc, I try to find a decent vintage to fill the need, because there's so many high quality 2.8 lenses for next to nothing that it pays to check those out first. For faster glass that will stay sharp at low aperture, newer lenses seem to be the better bet. IMO for a fast lens at about 1.4 in the 30mm range- the sigma is as good as it gets without breaking the bank.

As so many mention the ones I have here. I love the Voigtlander for sure and the 20mm comes in handy, BUT I hate the manual focus on that lens. THe image is awesome but that focus is a buzzkill...

Other lenses that I love are the Rokinon 24mm and the 35mm.. and of course the 7-14 panny.

BUT the lens that stays on my camera the most.. the one that I love more than any other is the SLRmagic 12mm. Glad someone else mentioned it. Such an absolutely killer lens at any price. I"m so excited about their 24 and 35mm..

It's the Panny 100-300 for wildlife and birds, and ETC is almost always on with a working FL of almost 2000mm. I'm looking for even longer focal lengths - thinking of adapting my Sigma 50-500.

But otherwise, it's the 14-140 and 20/1.7.
