T2i What did I do wrong?!

Even though I hear my voice asking, "Rolling sound?" with a polite, "Sound rolling." before the shot ... there was no sound. 5 takes in a ROW were not captured. Possibly 20 to 25% of the audio was not captured. On top of that, the H4N levels were too low.

I'd have something to say to your recordist.

"You're fired!"

I'm curious as to what would you do differently?

Well, I wouldn't have had him running audio, OR I would have met with him the day before and gone over all 2 buttons he needed to push (record and stop) for about an hour until he got that down. Two buttons ... pretty tricky, I guess.

I would have my AD hovering over him making sure the numbers weren't sitting at 00:00:00 when he was "rolling" until he got it.

I would have bumped the H4N's sensitivity up.

I would have had the Boom Op tighter in (working on The Jones', The BO always gets just out of frame ... I took that for granted it would happen here).

I would have called the Camera shop a week before when I did to rent the 11-16 (I had just been beat by someone else).

I would have been watching for moire.

If I COULD control it, I would have had more than one day to shoot, and more than a week to prep. That was unlikely, though, as it was just a random weekend off from TJ.

But now I know...
