What (cheap) stabilizer? For $14?!!

Thoughts? If $40 bucks is all you have go for it. But, never take it to a paid job and never use it on a production you want taken seriously.

Indeed Mikko.

The idea was to promote the discussion crossing different POV and uses. DIY and A1/G1 users are quite different people IMHO.

Basically, I agree with the non-professional use. However, I'm thinking to buy an A1 model as my domestic/familiar/personal cam and I wouldn't like to spend so much than a few bucks accessorizing it. Do you have any other cheap suggestions?

:dankk2: in advance!
Emanuel :)

Well, I made one too and it does work pretty darn good. But, I agree with an earlier statement that it does not look professional. It you want to look like a pro in front of people and do the job with equipment made for the purpose, you are looking at spending at least $400 for something.

Or the SteadyTracker for half the price of the Glidecam?

BTW, coffee and hawkmankt, what was the weight of your experiences? And the gear used? DVX? Do you already test it with the A1, coffee?

The weight wasn't anything noticeable for me. I tested it with the DVX butnot yet with the A1. I haven't done really anything with the A yet due to post prodcution on the film but this weekend will be full of playing with the A1... :)

:dankk2: coffee!

Rafa posted the weight issue and I'm afraid it can be a hassle. I'll be waiting for your weekend experience with the A1.

On the other hand, even if I may go into any one of the prior routes posted before, the fact is I'm thinking to order this stabilizer setup (4000 pro up to 10 lbs + Smooth Shooter) -- in the next future:

However, maybe only after the RED specs release and for PRO (paid) work.

'cause I'll have other bigger options:

http://www.steadicam.com/video_flyer24se.html
etc

Until then, I'd like to play with an A1 plus a simple stabilizer but efficient.

EDIT -- Links fixed.
