C100: What case or bag do you use with C100?

I'm a great fan of ThinkTank. Disrete, capatious, robust, absolutely UK Airline friendly - budget airline friendly too (well, EasyJet) and will tote a 17" MacBook Pro too. Comfortable as any 12-17 Kg backpack can be.

good thread. serious issue. canon just wasn't thinking about cases when they designed these things, as they made them just enough bigger than even a DSLR with a grip attached, making almost all photo style bags useless.

i also use the kata 193, fits a reasonable amount of stuff, and with the handle and a baseplate attached. but there's a lot of dead space wasted.

i finally got a case i can use for lightweight running around. the lowepro orion aw. the damn thing is discontinued, but it fits the unhandled c100 perfectly, with enough room for a spare for a long lens, battery, and nicknacks. for when i don't need the XLRs, i have a top cheese plate with a handle that fits in there.

I LOVE my Tenba Roadie II: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/885165-REG/Tenba_638_334_Roadie_II_HDSLR_Video_Shoulder.html
If you take out the dividers you can stand a C100 up in it with a handle on it, but I think the C300 is too tall this way. I don't tend to use it like that though. I love how configurable it is, but I like to know it can handle it when I need to pull a small rig out of a bag and go. The dividers' velcro sticks well but not TOO well, so it isn't a hassle to pull them out and rearrange them. And the "tray" that sits on top is amazingly handy. I'm always stunned at how much I can get into this thing, and how well it can suit my own peculiar memory patterns for how I arrange everything, and the build quality is excellent.

Do any of you check in your gear? If so, which pelicans/boxes do you use? Within India, I carry two bags as cabin luggage and stuff tons of things in my domke vest. However, it is increasingly becoming difficult and I know soon I will need a sturdy case which can protect my gear from breakage if it is sent as checked in luggage.

Camera and lenses no, everything else yes. I have used Pelican cases but they are so heavy I try to avoid them. Usually put extra gear in a padded bag then in my hard suitcase. I travel all over the world many times per year. Case has taken some big hits over the years. Any damage has been from items hitting each other in the case so packing is the key.

I check the Pelican Storm im2950:

It was the largest I could find that was (just) under the maximum size limit for checked luggage. I am often over the maximum w8 limits though and sometimes have to pay an excess baggage fee when I check it. It is a real tank and holds anything under 29-30 inches long. I keep stands, tripod, green screen, even a portable prompter (when I want to really go overw8). You can get Velcro dividers and foam if you want. The 2950 + my 1510 carryon = my entire portable rig - my laptop. Gr8 case.
