What are your thoughts on this rig?

I ordered the small uni-strut and the handle kit. If it is as nice as it looks in the pics...I will be very happy and probably buy some more stuff from them. I'll give feedback on what I think.

On a side note...how'd you become involved in this Steve? I mean know this isn't your primary business...do you shoot as a hobby?

Yup, I think it’s like most. One hobby crashes into another. Did a couple of promotional videos for work. Normal kids stuff, plays, musicals etc. In 2004/2005 we had a video crew from the SME in the shop. Video taped a new DVD "The fundamentals of Rapid Tooling". Looked at what they where doing and thought "Thffftp!" I can do that! Yeah, well 6 months later I had my first promotional video, so not all that easy, but it was fun.

I like the blue/black colors now... Same colors as the RedRock gear... Red/Black would look good too.. Either way, if it's not too much trouble to mock up some in different colors and offer them you never know... We film makers love customizing our gear so having the options of multiple color variations would give you an advantage over the competition IMHO.

Different colors now on the web site. Once we get some free time i'm going to run the rod caps as well. I'll post some pictures of the rods for feedback. We assemble the rods on an order by order basis so it would not be hard to offer full color for the rods as well.

This fiber cage looks great! Any word on the ETA of the shoulder pad for the shoulder support system?

Machining of the A and B side core and cavitiy is all done. We are cutting ejector pins, then its just a matter of adding the runner and venting to the mold. It is currently scheduled to go in our 140 ton press this Thursday. I will post some pictures when its in the press.

I'm going to bump this thread to ask for an update. I'm interested in the CPM products but I wanted to see how the shoulder mount looks. I am more interested in a RedRock style shoulder rig that doesn't have the full cage. Can this be done, are there handles that would just mount to the rails and not the cage? I only have the need for something basic.

You can just use one strut to rails and handles on the strut.
This is the lightest system I have seen.

The red washers look kind of pink on the home page.
I wish they were darker :violin:

Shoulder pad kit is up on the site, under the rail parts link, toward the bottom.

Our current side grips and handles only work with the cage struts. We have a design in the works that mounts the handles to the rails, but that one is pretty far off.

Will you be making a cheese plate to mount ontop of a belly pan?
I am getting 2 battery plates that I will need to mount at the rear of the rail mount. A wide cheese plate would be great to mount on top of a belly pan, with the 2 batteries on top of that.

The redrock one shown will work, but it is very heavy.

I use the belly pan as is as a cheese plate, I have a Beachtek mounted on it and it sits over my shoulder. Works really well.
