What are you shooting?

disjecta

Lucky Duck
Maybe this should be a sticky.

I have decided to ask the question, what are you shooting with your DVX100? I think it's a good way to learn about each other and demonstrate the diversity of the camera's uses.

I'll start the ball rolling...

I'm working on a nature documentary that will take about a year to complete. It will show in great detail how one animal's actions affects another. How weather and the elements in general affect habitat and will showcase the sheer beauty and wonder of nature itself. The film will include, amongst other things; timelapses and macro shots, gliding camera shots to simulate birds and butterflies in flight, etc.

It's a huge undertaking and will require a tremendous amount of patience and research but I'm passionate about the idea.

Anyone else?

Re: What are you shooting?

I agree.. cut the first half off, the second half is good. Keep those cuts quick to match the music and youve got a solid trailer. Cant wait to see the entire thing.

Re: What are you shooting?

Er... is this a reply to a different post?  Or just a pre-emptive first strike against when disjecta makes the nature documentary trailer available? ;)

Re: What are you shooting?

Im like  :D

My use of the DVX100 is to be short films short films short films. (Which I ma having the damnest time trying to get together; priorities, time, obligations...

Re: What are you shooting?

So far I have been shooting various custom car shows up and down the east coast... Working on releasing a DVD later this summer. I have plans to shoot several Music Videos later on this summer as well.

Re: What are you shooting?

I shoot a golf and outdoor fishing tv show once a week with the little jewel. It's pretty funny..because here in Jacksonville is the home of the PGA and PGA tour productions. Shortly after I got the dvx100A , one of the guys from PGA tour productions called me and asked. "What did you do different to the show...are you using film now"? I told him yes...I love it!

Also I am in preproduction of a feature.....romantic/comedy. It's going to be a rather big ordeal...lots of actors..many extra's (Backgroung talent) and locations...should be an adventure.

Re: What are you shooting?

Presently I am using it mostly to capture various moments of play and fight of my children....as I see them grow os fast ...day in and day out. I am taking regular shots of them on fortnighlty basis....with some similar themes repeated every two months...to see how they react to it.

Whatever visual data I have gathered so far is quite astonishing even to me.. I am sure it would definitely be something of an interest for the kids.

but I am not doing it just for fun...basically. For future I am planning to make a feature on child psychology. these shots are going to make the central theme of my thesis. 8)

Re: What are you shooting?

basic principle of child psycholgy: 2 hours with more than one of them and you need a psychologist ;)

we did a video for the first 2 years of our boys life with repeating themes....came out great. the craziest was to see how fast the bathtubs grew around him (sink-tommytub-little babybath-bigger babybath-big child bath-and now he uses the regular bathtub to piss into.... ;D)

Re: What are you shooting?

I've shot a mix of things, two instructional videos and one event video, plus home movies.

Here's one that will quickly cause me to lose all credibility on this board. The reason I bought the DVX100 was not for any of the above mentioned uses. I actually bought it as a long shot on a good idea i thought of about 4-5 years ago. In the last year, I've been digilantly working on launching it. Now that i have my DVX100 (2 months old), I'm about to start taping/filming. Here it is: a sitcom. There are 8 semi big networks out there ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX, WB, ABCFamily, UPN, PAX, and some smaller cable networks as well. I thought of a unique idea, and I've got more than a season's worth of material. Unlike most sit-coms (which recent media reports say is a fading genre), this is not dumb with adults acting stupid or constantly joking about sex, or relying heavily on putdown humor, or very loud laugh tracks following things that aren't even humorous. It's genuinely funny stuff that i've been able to field test fairly extensively.

Because a 44 year old college instuctor and school psychologist might be perceived as a looney for endevouring to produce a sit-com, I've only spoken to a few people about it, lest my sanity be questioned. The DVX100 combined with my 14 years of videography experience will help with the technical end (i.e., it should LOOK good-I'm using 24p, of course). My idea represents almost a brand new genre within the sit-com concept. At the moment, I'd rather not give too many details, because it wouldn't be too hard to duplicate (time consuming, but not hard). I will be releasing clips on this site of specific scenes as they are edited.

Anyway, you asked what we are doing with our DVX's, so I told you. Were it not for my big idea, I'd have no DVX and would have never come to this site.

Re: What are you shooting?

I've shot a bunch of short films projects (I'm about to start another - a 5 minute comedy), a couple of music videos, a couple of weddings for friends/family, a talent show and a lot of traffic! (That's how I test scene file settings etc.) I'm also working on a feature length comedy that I may shoot with my DVX (depending on my budget) this fall.

Re: What are you shooting?

Right now I'm working on a 300 hour dvd training series distributed to the underground church in China. Wanna talk about difficult? I don't speak Chinese! ;)

I also use it for international docs, shorts, events (not weddings though), and experimental films. She's golden.

Re: What are you shooting?

I shoot mostly Commercial & Corporate projects with my 100A. It's an incredible camera, with the ability to rig just about anywhere. I probably use it about 30% of the time of all my different projects. It works great for certain things, while other cameras are more suited for others. If you love the 100/A you should try the SDX900 sometime. It's even more amazing.

A psychologist...or a psychiatrist?? ;D

Re: What are you shooting?

I've been using the DVX mainly to shoot interviews but also for some work at airshows shooting planes (real ones not models) both static and in flight.
I found out that the DVX has just one downside for me: its lens is not long enough and there is no telephoto adapter available.

Re: What are you shooting?

there is a 1.6 tele from centiry optics. and dusjecta uses a 58mm- 2xtele (check the results in the "water edge" clip...

Re: What are you shooting?

Well, this week I get my dvx-100AE, and the first big thing
I'm going to do is a big party with lots of drunken people throwing beer at each other. Yeah, that is very risky with a new camera, I hope I can get myself a secure place to shoot.
Do anyone know if there is a kind of protecting 'bag' that can hold the camera against all kind of danger when shooting?
