...Gord, what's he saying?...

Haha. I know but I can't tell you. ;) I'm not the HipHop-knowledge-guy ofcourse. Beat Takashi from dvx here was when Hip Hop first began in New York. I haven't seen him around here in a few years. :)
I'm just exploring different music varieties and 'especially' the styles or artists that I'm not familiar with and there are a ton of them. I currently have a guest here from Poland and I'm learning about the area, culture and the music. :)

Oh and just if anyone is wondering (which they most likely aren't) I don't understand the Polish language but I understand everything else about it musically, at least enough to know whether I like it or not, and a bit more. If anyone would like any Polish translations I could ask him what they are singing about. He's fluent in both English and Polish. -Cheers.

Norok was a Moldavia based band (the language is sort of close to Romanian)

This was a Russian cover by a different band, in Russian, a more famous version (video is inserted from a different film). Kind of a Tremeloes sound.

And a tune that was far more popular in Europe than in the US. Far more popular.

Nice find and very interesting. I wonder how they came about choosing that song. One can definitely hear the similarities in the style of...well, it has that older Russian instrumental style that I don't know what's called. For example, like this one that followed on the Y.T list (and plus I like tanks ;).

ПРОЩАНИЕ СЛАВЯНКИ

Chatting: Buddy had a listen to it and could only understand a few words in the lyrics. He said the Russian alphabet is so different too. And that the Polish and Ukrainian languages are more similar and the woman there are really hot he said so he's going to try and find a few of those vids later on tonight. hehehe. -Cheers.

//one more with the same musical pattern. I don't understand the lyrics in these so I hope they are okay for everyone. I'm just speaking of the underlying music and not the lyrical content. I'm thinking it may be called a 'March' beat but I really don't know the proper term.

Марш "Прощание Славянки/Farewell of Slavianka" - 1941 год (Уникальная кинохроника)

Garipova is cute but more suited toward weightless pop.

I posted this version several years ago.

And this was a Soviet WWII anthem, "the holy war"

PS. I joined the "We hated it in the USSR" group on Facebook. Someone would be probably banned for the second video, if left without a commentary.

Beer post I guess. I'm too old to give a f anymore lolll. [I mean life in general. I do give a f about alot of things including everything here. I'm just really shitty at English I guess what with my grade 11 and everything loll. :) ) I just love hanging out here. So many good tunes and memories. Thanks for letting me hang out and goof off a bit during this pandemic pile of s*%t.

Me and Pammy from last winter. (I gotta get in there and see her again in the next few weeks. Lived with her for some time. Known her for a over a few decades. Good and bad times and... :).
And yes I look a little like s*%t there but it is what is. Don't ya love that "wutch you lookin' at?" to-the-camera look in her eyes? Her eyes used to crack me up out loud lol and then she'd start laughing.:)

Ukrarnian songs:
Buddy has a list of songs from the Ukraine that he's having alot of trouble with right now trying to translate the vids on his phone to English to find on YouTube.
So for right now, because we're trying to have some beers, he said just look up Ukranian Music 2020 so here's a few from that.

And if anyone knows how get a video link from a cell phone to a link that I can share and what cable might be needed from the cell phone to my P.C then that would help immensly. (And F my spelling right now. This isn't a f'n...:)
And if he calls his buds in Poland it's about 5 am there.

So, at my discretion a.t.m. (and yours) then : -Beers.

The big Ukrainian stars were a rap duo Nastya Kamenskikh and Potap. He wrote and produced, she looked hot.

Em is obviously considered one of the greatest of all time and I probably credit him for me learning way too much too early in my life (those parental advisory explicit content labels are very important, ha), but most people have no idea how unbelievable his 2nd and 3rd studio albums were (his first is mostly irrelevant as it was more like a demo).

The 3rd one tipped him into superstardom and then after that the next 8 were mostly pure hell, torture and complete garbage. Sometimes your favorite artists come back years later with something really good but he became too rich, too old, and most distressingly lost his beautiful flow and distinct voice he had when he was in his 20s.

But The Slim Shady LP and The Marshall Mathers LP are lyrical masterpieces. The stories he tells are insane...and I hate that most people know Eminem for everything after these two albums.

NSFW. Really not safe for work.

One of the most special things about music is how we all have our own experiences with it throughout our lives and the different decades we are fortunate to live in.

90s and 2000s are my own territory and maybe a terrible time for some coming from the 80s, 70s, 60s etc. but that's why nostalgia is so beautiful.

___

A lot of us had our phases, and pop punk and emo was a big one for me. There are dozens and dozens of bands I loved but Blink-182 and New Found Glory were at the top.

___

But one band that I thought was so talented is Coheed and Cambria (been rediscovering them lately). Unfortunately, I didn't listen to anything after In Keeping Secrets Of Silent Earth: 3, but I think they are so good...dude has multiple personalities throughout the songs, ha.

In the 2000s, not many things on this planet were more precious than Britney.

I have to add this wonder as well...I swear I loved the audio production back then.

I'm this close [ ] to popping back into FruityLoops...not FL Studio, FruityLoops, lol.

We need a rap thread, lol.

Our building is on the Intracoastal and, when the various boats float by, I get to experience the individual musical tastes of its owners. Especially, at night, when the sound really carries. Styles, in order of popularity - rap, Latin rap, Russian rap.

PS. The Ukrainian rap duo above are now married. To each other. They weren't when they first began performing together. Potap's 40 now, Anastasia is 34. When they recorded their first album, she was 19, he was 45.

NorBro: I keep thinking that your from northern Canada (as in north of the U.S) whenever I see your name.
But I just came in to comment on the 'blink-182-Dammit' video that you posted.
If they changed just one of the lyrics from "I guess this is growing up" to "I guess this is growing old" then everything is still relevant and relatable to even some of us old farts.

Anyways, Cheers and I promise I won't comment on every tune. Thanks. :)
