What are you listening to now ?

My parents used to listen to super hits of the 70s (have a nice day) and every now and then the melodies come bubbling up through my unconscious, such as billy dont be a hero

I love that last line, "I heard she threw the letter...a-waaaay..."

I feel like the emotion and implications are much stronger for all that is unspoken and left to the imagination. Her anger, the scene of her bawling and pounding her mother's chest, etc. Everything is so explicit today

It's kind of an enduring anti-war song despite being so normie and poppy. A far cry from country joe and the fish ("and it's 1, 2, 3, what are we fighting for? Dont ask me, I dont give a damn. Next stop is Vietnam...")

It's got me thinking about how influential the vietnam war and the draft were for baby boomers...

ahalpert: I find it interesting that the lyrics of some songs that I listened to as a youth take on a different meaning now or maybe I
never really listened or thought about the lyrics much back then, if one could even understand some of them.

Here's one song that always reminds me of my first love. I'm sure everyone has one of those songs.
[I was sitting with her brother outside of thier house when we were kids. She came out and gave us each a glass of juice. I asked her
brother "Who's that?". The prettiest girl I'd ever seen in my life and remained as such throughout her life.]

Looking Glass - Brandy (You're a Fine Girl) (Audio)

My first "slow dance" with a girl. Fall of 1976. Her name was Alla (still is). She wore a tight yellow turtleneck, tight East European jeans and high heels. And a bit of eye makeup.

And this is the same band, albeit with a different vocalist, some 50 years after the original recording.

PS. Historical note. The band's founder with a shaggy gray beard is Anastas Mikoyan, grandson of his namesake Stalin's Minister of Trade and a grand nephew of the founder of MiG aircraft design bureau. The original band members were all related to some grand poobahs and, while they weren't allowed to go wild, they weren't prosecuted for their performances either.

Bumping a previous post. Havin' a few beers but yeah, this hits home regarding a friend, and many others hooked on opioids. Just a fact these days. Cool? Good song.

Trying to think of a good song to recover from that one. Boston-Smokin?

I know it's old s*%t. So am I.

No changes are permanent but change is.

Invisible airwaves crackle with life

I strip away the old debris
That hides a shining car
A brilliant red Barchetta
From a better vanished time

All the world's indeed a stage
And we are merely players

I don't have a song right now. Jeeez you guys are getting hard to follow. I got nuthin' right now. A few stories and a few beers left if that counts.
Jeez, you guys are getting good. Stories I got...hahaha. Oh let me think, but not right now. :) Thanks for tunes. :)

Drunk post. I bought a bunch of tapes from HomeSpun years ago for a few different styles of piano playing. They included sheet music.
Anyways, yes, Dr.John ofcourse. "I found my thrill on Blueberry hill cover. Love it. Fats Domino" (If it's covered here. Just posting it now)
//Oh poop, that's a promo. Sorry. I thought that was a pirate vid kinda thing. Sigh. Figures.

//Oh yeah, he has huge hands. Some of his stuff I had to double hand it because, well, I just have normal sized hands. hahaha.
Try this one. I got a few beers left.

//The bass is so tight with the drums in Lacey Sturm - The Decree when I close my eyes and actually listen/focus to/on it, that it still blows me away. Perfection.

Coldplay - A Sky Full Of Stars (Official Video)

Lately I've been obsessed with the nostalgic electronica of Danielle Johnson, aka "Computer Magic", aka "Danz".
