What are you listening to now ?

Suzi Quatro is a Detroit born performer largely known to the US audiences as "Leather Tuscadero" on the US sitcom "Happy Days", but she was a mega star on the 1970's European pop-rock, having hitched her wagon to the mega songwriters/producers Mike Chapman and Nicky Chinn (aka Chinnichap). More importantly, she is an aunt of the most beautiful woman hat I have ever seen in person (Sherilyn Fenn). Suzi was quite a hot number herself. 50 million records sold can't be too wrong.

Chris Norman /Smokie were another hit machine with the Chinnichap factory (that never made it in the US) and this one was a top ten hit in the US.

And now a bit of Smokie, who not so shabbily sold some 30 records themselves (the bulk of the money, naturally, went to Chinn and Chapman)

(and off a "Gigolo and gigolette" riff)

Suzi Quatro...
Oh my. Would you believe you are only the second person in my life to even know who she is? I first heard her and of her in 1978('77 actually) by a drummer friend. I never shared her tunes because I didn't think anyone else knew of her to be honest. :) One again...haha.

Since this is the thread that all of the music guys hang on, can anyone explain to me why 21 Pilots has YT videos that have reached one BILLION views?!? ...[q/uote]

I'm guessing for money? Not having any sucks. Not for a lack of skilll. If they would just play something that "they" liked instead, in the ideal world...would be nice to hear. :)
//Well that didn't answer your question hahaha (I make myself laugh). I don't know the answer either. :)

OK, so when I don't scour YouTube for the memories of the days past, I am entertained by the police chases. William Friedkin, Peter Yates never had it so good.

I don't always understand right now. I do explore and listen up.
btw, cheers M.H from awhile back https://filmmakermagazine.com/tag/the-lost-children/#.X1rir9R7mpo

Specifically, there is a ton to learn about him and Biggie (both were killed within a year of each other).

90s east coast/west coast gangster rap was an unthinkable time in hip-hop music.

A surreal decade of insanity that will never exist again (at least in the music industry).

One more...clean version but dark.

If you choose to search for the raw version on YouTube, the storytelling is beautifully depressing.

And no one ever questioned if anything he said was true.

I've posted links to the live performances of "Gräfin Mariza" (Countess Maritza) before but this is arguably the best audio performance made in 1973 and featuring such stars as Nicolai Gedda (as Tassilo), Anneliese Rothenberger (as Mariza) and, in a small role of Manja the Gypsy, Edda Moser.

In any case, Gedda was one of the major opera stars of the 20th century, Rothenberger excelled in lighter roles, which this is, and the Munich Symphony Orchestra (then known as Orchestra Graunke) with Willy Mattes at the helm is superb as well.

This is the general Wikipedia page, if someone's interested in a plot - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Countess_Maritza

And, if someone wants to skip the German dialog, there's a comment post with the individual song links, time stamped - 4:07, 11:00, 18:05, 19:20, 32:15, 37:05, 56:20, 1:03:05, 1:07:56, 1:12:08, 1:15:00, 1:37:37, 1:41:00

PS. Because I was listening to the music while making the post, I got a Remy Martin ad. Now I am officially classy.

Dame Elizabeth Schwartzkopf. From "Die Lustige Witwe" ("the Merry Widow") by Franz Lehar.

And the "dance of the grizettes" from the same. It's in English. Sorry about that.

I'm having a few beers and sometimes my timing doesn't seem appropriate and I always have a need to explain "everything" lol.;) -Beers.

Years ago Beat Takeshi (SP?) from dvx here said once that they were required to pay protection money to one of the N.Y gangs when they were filming something on the N.Y city streets.
