What are you listening to now ?

... As I said to someone recently "Music is a memory trigger".
Indeed. back in the mid-80's, I was dying to get to Hollywood. The "Valley Girl", with Nick Cage as a Hollywood punk dreamer, who knows every club on or off Sunset increased that yearning. "I melt with you" was part of what was a truly soundtrack of the era. I met Deborah Foreman, film's female lead, when I was already in LA, around 1989-90 or so. She was utterly unpretentious.

This was another song on the soundtrack.

I saw the Plimsouls, or whatever was left of them, sometime around 1992 at Club Lingerie.

PS. Good Korg stories deserve some popcorn.

I had that 45rpm record and dad used listen to it and laugh, in a good way, as in a "that's new" kinda way. Good timing on that call DLD haha. :) -Night.

As Gord said, everyone has its own memories and associated music. The 80's started with the end of disco and the splash of country, then went New Wave and MTV, then heavy and hair metal and Michael Jackson and the subsequent return of dance music. And then videos, videos and more videos. I remember Keith Richards on some interview, "I hate music videos. It's all you see late night. Can't even find a good horror flick anymore"

Some of my New Wave faves.

Mitch: Shout is such a classic.
DLD:I've never heard The Psychelic Furs before. The link also sais "Video unavailable. The uploader has not made this video available in your country."
This following link does work though->

Uma Thurman is darn hot looking in this movie I must say!
Travolta mentioned in an interview once that the dancing was improvised first take. Granted, since he didn't do s*%t dancing wise there hahaha. [or maybe that was due to his character not knowing how to dance. ???]

Song origins:
Chuck Berry-You Never Can Tell

Bob Segers mention in the wiki sounded interesting:

deja vu. By the above "...were..." I was implying just me (It's just a way of speaking up here). Let's see how how stupid I can get tonight then shall we?

Bear with me (or is that Beer with me). For starters lets see where this first one leads me to tonight. (I'll keep everything in the same post.)
(The Rhodes caught my attention right off here.)

*f-it. I got nothing tonight. hehe.

Saved the day again DLD.
The first character to the left, I hear/envision a Steve Buscemi role in there for some reason.

Gonna break a rule tonight (damn wine still isn't done yet) and share a short screen capture I did of a couples first razor shell catch in S.Korea. I had never heard of such a thing as a razor-shell so just for fun here's my scr-grab from thier live cast (used with permission).

Browsing old music posts tonight so post 'em if ya got 'em haha. Am I busted yet haha? haha. Oh jeez, Gordy's gonna have a hang over.

One of our old lead singers Colin Amey (he was between 18-22 ish years old when we played together). We did the bar circuit with him for about 2 years, decades ago. Great guy then and now. Back then he was a rock-pop singer and we were doing rock music. When everything turned country up here, we all broke up for 6 months then reformed as a country rock band. Long story. Not our band here.
Very nice person.

I'd rather listen to other posts right now because this typing s*%t is killing me. Sheeesh.

I have one video of us playing live in T.O and it sucks all around so fk that. No lookee lol. Another long story.

Like I said, I got nothing tonight haha.

The set list for my first rock band in high school thanks to Hugh Sully who kept it all of these years.

Half of those songs are origs but allow me to reminice...

//edited. The M*A*S*H "Instrumental" version that we grew up listening to.

One of the girls (Patti and/or Denise) must have sang this one at Saint Nick.

K. This feels too much like work. Enough already for now. :) But yeah, thanks for letting me reminice. -Cheers.

Probably favorite band growing up ... the MKII reunion from 1984.

I got the tape when the album came out because it had one extra song compared to the vinyl.

:)

I watched a video of a Green Day live concert online tonight, (from the late 80's I think?), and it was very impressive.
I can't find anything on YT yet that would do them justice. Outstanding performance. I wish I could share.

About 45 million copies sold, 8th highest in history, album of the year, an all time classic.

Why am I writing an intro?
