What are you listening to now ?

About 45 million copies sold, 8th highest in history, album of the year, an all time classic.

Why am I writing an intro?

Kinda sucks that the band all had to be romantically involved and breaking up and hating each other’s guts here & there in order to do it, but it sure made for some great tunes.

The funny part is that I saw Mitch's post in my emails without seeing the album cover and knew exactly who he was talking about...legendary tales there.

Rumours have it, you were driving your Fleetwood Cadillac, and had the idea just in the Nicks of time...

I was driving a Moskvich. Into a ditch. Almost. My father thought, "oh, well" ---

But I tempted him with "Green Manalishi"

He sad, it's over my head.

Then he added, "You know, once we're out of here, we're never going back again"

-Lindsey Buckingham still sounds like she did back in the day. Nice to hear that one.:)

-Holly Cole. Not the original vid but-> I remember her speaking in an interview once about when the band was starting out playing the clubs on Spadina Ave in T.O, singing her heart out for 3 people in the bar.I posted the original YT vid years ago here in the cafe as well as one I found online of her in the studio when she was around 18ish years old or so. I don't know if those vids are still around. Anyhoo...

Mom bought me Lee Aarons Metal Queen album when it came out.

//The lack of me commenting on her drummer husband here has been haunting me for weeks. So, I've seen him play jazz drums before, not rock apart from this one. He's looking a bit older now and I've never seen this side of him performance wise. Very good. He looks , well, he knows what he's doing haha. Very good visually and technically (a walk in the park for him haha) and spot on.
-Also I just found out, and maybe why mom had bought me that L.P back then and saying later "I thought you knew her"..."Aaron was born as Karen Lynn Greening in Belleville, Ontario". A small town where I'm from. J.C eh? :) 61 and I just found that out. haha. -Cheers.
//sorry for the babbling. I probably knew back then that she was born here and probably "yapping" about her to Mom, and thus she bought me her L.P. Such is my age now. :)

She was doing Jazz for quite awhile after her earlier rock days as well.

Saw a guy today while sitting at an outdoor bar patio, about my age(60), in the parking lot do the leg splits to crotch level of about 6 inches above the ground then started doing a bunch of push-ups while in leg-split mode, for minutes, seemed like forever, you had to be there.

Then after a short stand up break he does the splits again, put his arms behind his back and starts doing peusdo sit-ups while his legs are in splits, like arching his hip/back down until his head hit ground level then up about 30 degress or so repeatedly about 10 or 20 times or more. You'de have to see it.

Needless to say he caught everyones attention on the patio with smiles and laughter. Ex military I strongly suspect as I live in a town that has a base. What a guy!

haha. -Cheers.

Country music is working for me today (Friday now). Been awhile. Here's a few, not that anyone will listen but, hey, just sayin'.

Country State of Mind-Hank Williams Jr.

I've Always Been Crazy

You Never Even Called Me By My Name

George Jones - Who's Gonna Fill Their Shoes

When asking a buddy how he was doing he often replied "Sick-sorry-sober-broke-disgusted and sad." Ol' Al MacCrae from Cape Breton if memory serves. Years later I learned it was from a song. :)

Razz, drool is right. That band rings a strong bell, not in the names mentioned but everything else. I'll browse back and post later
whenever with who I'm thinking of. (trying to have beers right now and not do research :) )

Joseph Schmidt (1904-1942) was an Austrian born (these days, it's in Ukraine) tenor and one of the biggest stars of the 1920's and 30's. Being very short of stature at 4'11", he didn't have the power to perform in large opera halls but, somewhat like Bing Crosby, became a very popular radio/recorded performer. Banned in the Nazi Germany after 1933, he toured the rest of Europe and the US. Being fluent in several languages, he was a rare performer, comfortable in both the German and the Italian songs.

O Sole Mio (in German)

When I wuz young, there were not many bands bigger than Slade. In fact, Slade was a #1 1970's band in the UK, if one based it on a number of charting singles. They didn't quite made it in the US. However, a few of their songs became hits for others.

Ah, that 70's fashion.

And a quick chat-show clip from a few years ago, where Noddy Holder (now 74) describes life in a band.

PS. "Loose Women" is the name of the UK chat-show.

DLD: Great to see you back man. You have "The Gift" as we used to say. Thank-you.
Mark W: That just blew me away. Thank-you.

Conception - Waywardly Broken (official lyric video)

I promised myself that I was going to check out this band further tonight (an online bud laughed at me last night for not knowing who they were. hehe. All in good fun. :).
I like them for a number of reasons. -Cheers man.

f-me eh? This is what I'm talking about. :) The bass and drums. -I love it.

Since this is the thread that all of the music guys hang on, can anyone explain to me why 21 Pilots has YT videos that have reached one BILLION views?!?
I have occasionally heard them on the radio, power pop punk duo, nothing wrong with them, but nothing exceptional either, that I can hear or see? What's the
big draw for them to be racking up billions of views? Even their more recent ones that don't have billions of views have hundreds of millions. What am I missing?

I never hear them on college radio or public radio that I listen to, I never hear anyone young talking about them, concerts, etc.

Just trying to unravel the mystery?
