Nice one. Yeah it's refreshing to hear all the new jazz coming from millennials, both covers and originals. Lot of fantastic musicians. I grew up on Coltrane, Stan Getz, Miles Davis, the whole sixties latin jazz movement with Brazil 66, Joao and Astrud Gilberto, etc.

Rachel Price and Lake Street Dive are a current favorite. These guys are all New England Music Conservatory graduates.

Keep finding lots of interesting new performers I wasn't aware of on NPR's tiny desk concerts.

I have a very close friend that has an opiate addiction.
I think we all know someone. It's an aweful thing to witness as it progresses.
Just want to give a shout out for them right now [If you knew what I know]. -Cheers.

"Veselye Rebyata" ("Jolly Good Fellows") were one of the top Soviet VIA's (Soviet portmanteau for the "ensemble with vocals and instrumentals). The band was banned from the Soviet TV for having several Jewish band members, despite selling 16 million copies of their first LP.

These two are with Aleksandr Lerman on the vocals, later a linguistics professor at Delaware State.

The next two with Leonid Berger on the lead.

With Aleksandr Barykin

With Lyudmila Barykina (no relations to Aleksandr), Soviet disco.

After Berger (1973, Australia) and Lerman (1976, US) emigrated, their recordings were withdrawn from the Soviet stores.

"Million Scarlet Roses" was a megahit for Alla Pugacheva in 1982-83. Here it is in Japanese.

And here in French, with dancing.
