What are you listening to now ?

A little Neil Young, baby! Wanna talk ol' school? "Old Man" and "Needle and the Damage Done". I got a bunch of High Quality DAT tapes from an old "taper" This recording is from the May 1999 Fox Theater concert in NY. Got about 20 concerts from Phish, but they aren't my cup of tea.

Faces - Miss Judy - A nod is as good as a wink- to a blind horse. (Rod Stewart & Ron Wood 1972) The first rock album I ever bought, not counting the Beatles. Still have the LP. Greatest Wurlitzer paino player I have ever heard. I later bought a wurlitzer piano, learned all of this guys licks and spent the rest of my adult life trying to get that rythmn down as good as his. Never did, lol. But I threw in his licks whenever I could because it was just cool stuff.

Still, the best rthymn Wurlitzer keyboardist in my books. Great album.

The kid was good. I had the 'Ben' 45 from the movie (Jackson 5 then). His 80's material ( esp. Thriller, was ground breaking. He had it from the get go as a kid and kept it up till he died at 50 and was still going. Even Elvis nor the Beatles could top that. Quite the guy.

Miss my old 1931 5'11", hand refinished (by me) in red oak/topped with walnut (beautiful, trust me), open grain, satin finish, all brass polished (again, by me) Wurlitzer Baby Grand *sniff*. Bought for a grand, sold for 4K. Yeah, I made a profit, but I miss it, it was my first piano.

Thanks for reminding me, Raptor. Now I'm depressed, where's my f'ing Scotch?

Some odds and ends, mostly 'harsh' voices at the moment. Doing the Saturday Matinee thing.

The Pogues & Kirsty MacColl - Fairytale Of New York

Tom Waits - Warm Beer Cold Women

Dr John live at Montreux 1986 - Mac's Boogie

I bought this tape, video link below, and several others from from Homespun tapes. About $60 a pop back then, and was so impressed I brought it over to my girl-friends place about 100 miles away, half pissed and by a $100 taxi ride mind you.
Luckily the taxi driver had a van and a big comfy couch in the back and let us drink on the way there and back...that works. She's a jazz piano player. She loved the tapes and thanked me so much and how it felt like Christmas because of everything I was giving her.
I...uh...okay...that was the plan all along. (clears throat).

Nice to hear the tape again though. Btw, in fairness to homespun (very nice people), when you buy from them you get the actual music transcripts which I think I gave to my GF too.
Woman can do that to you sometimes.

Yep. 9:13 am and I'm still up. Oh well.

STILL... my favorite song of 2000. Best cranked to around 100-120db at 1am. For me that was 5.1ss 600W with sub woofers in a 12x15 ft room. And I have a cheap outfit mind you. The floors and windows rocked and the neighbours never said ****, cause they'd get busted too, haha.

John Scofield - "Piety Street"

Very clean-sounding gospel played by New Orleans musicians along with blues guitar from an extremely intelligent jazz guitarist.
