What are you listening to now ?

I may be wrong but Lyube is his favourite band :) But Deep Purple is an awesome band, true

When DP toured Russia a few years ago, Putin and Medvedev said that DP was their favorite.

But, for those who never heard of Lyube (which is pretty much anyone) - here's a really great single.

Some old Soviet era hits -

"What's in it for me?" by the Jolly Good Fellows (aka Veselye Rebyata), lead vocals by Aleksandr Barykin.

Blue Bird with, "I'm not dreaming of you" (with the wah and fuzz pedals, no less)

Flow, Song, "Farewell" (with some fuzz)

There's no one more beautiful than you" by Veselye Rebyata, lead vocals by Leon Berger (long living in Australia)

"Do not forget" by Yuri Antonov (the clip was directed by someone I sort of met via FB)

"Clouds in the river" by Igor Ivanov.

Dobry Molodsy (Good Guys), "The high school waltz"

Most of these, sans Antonov (1980) are from the 1970's.

Been exploring a lot of different world ethnic music styles lately. This Pakistani fusion group performs some hauntingly beautiful music.

I think he and Wolfie partied with Mick and Bianca and Andy and Halston in Studio 54 together.

More memories ... and one of the greatest vocal performances by Ian Gillan and guitar solos by Ritchie Blackmore.

Isaac Dunayevsky (1900 - 1955) (born Itzhak Ben-Betzapel Josef Dunayevsky) was arguably the greatest Soviet composer/songwriter of his era. working with classical and jazz styles, with marches and waltzes. And doing a lot of film scores.
