The Budapest Operetta Theater gala from 2009. About 40 numbers from Emmerich Kalman, Johann Strauss the Younger, Franz Lehar, et al. Sort of like operetta's greatest hits. (in Hungarian)

Very classy. It's hard to respond .I liked it. I've never seen a Broadway musical for example. In the ideal world that would be a dream. It'll never happen. And not to get all drunk retarded and everything, I appreciate it. Any broadway stuff that you can post then please do so.Thanks man. :) Actually thanks even again. Yeah more broadway shows.

/15:42 is getting pretty good. She picking things up haha.
// Holy smokes that routine was good.
//They are getting a huge applause for it.
//This stuff is great. I've honestly never sat down and watched one before. I've heard about...I'll get back to you. I have to watch the rest->
//29 min in and it's like little one act plays every whatever. 100% performances. DLD, you were right. This is good.
//31+ min in and I"m getting a strong "Sgt.Shultz" feeling/look from this character. (The Russian version of Sgt.Shultz maybe.)

Still watching the opera that DLD posted. I'm finding its like bunch of short 15 min concepts. If you are willing to get over a language barrier then your good to go. Personally I'm having zero issues with it, in fact, it enhances everything in a way. Anyways it is really good not that anyone blah blah blah. I like it. Getting back to it...
...just sharing cause whatever. This is DLD's link though.

At 15.42, it's the King of Waltzes Johann Strauss the Younger (his father was a composer too, famous for the "Radetzky March"). The female performer is Marika Oszvald (in Hungarian, they list first name last), who's a Hungarian Ethel Merman. Except, she also does somersaults.

The big dude is Andras Farago who lost lots of weight since then (he may have gained some back), whose specialty is comedy/supporting roles.

This is from about 35 years ago, performed in Stuttgart on tour and in German (the original language of most Kalman and Lehar operetta)

Two by Kalman and the last by Lehar.

This is from Kalman's 125th birthday gala in 2007

From the mid (early?) 1980's.

From late 00's ("Manuela", about two Hungarians thinking they're in tango infused Argentina ... a WWII era song)

DLD. I'm still trying to catch up with you lol.
This rocks: (from your post above) -Beerskies.

Good to see you're still around Gord.

Maybe because of all the angst in the world right now, this hit my weekend playlist.

Good to see you still around too Noel. Man, it has been a long time. Yikes hahahah.
...This opera stuff is pretty good, so, doing that right now.:)

Sholtzy: (Hey, DLD started it hahaha)

That is good. I'de pay to see that.

It's from "Das Hollandweibchen" (in English, a "Little Dutch Girl"), 1920, one of Kalman's lesser operettas, except this one showstopper "Hörst du, es schlägt die Liebestunde»

This performance has been uploaded and deleted by YouTube on the copyright grounds several times, although a piecemeal version has been on for years. Kalman's "Gräfin Mariza" (Countess Maritza), with the libretto by Julius Brammer and Alfred Grünwald. In my opinion, it's a single greatest musical ever written with a dozen great numbers that have become a staple on the international opera/musical circuit.

This particular staging is from the 2004 Mörbisch am See festival in Austria, with Nicolai Schukoff as Tassilo and Dagmar Schellenberger as Mariza.

Linda Perry formally of 4 Non Blonds (in post #2305). Gotta like her.

Mom sent me a copy of this recording on an 8-track tape many years ago. The rumour at the time was it was The Beatles in disguise. It wasn't as we found out later.
An image from my Linda Perry post above reminded me of that and "that" is a good note for me to end on tonight. :)

//Oh how I love editing my drunk-posts from the night before. I'm starting to wonder if I even speak/understand english anymore. -Cheers. ;)

Man, I'd completely forgotten about that Klaatu album. Thanks for bringing that one back.

Still catching up on posts here, so much to catch up on I'm apologetic.
I gotta just post one more and crash out (sleep for a bit).

She starts around 2:25. DLD music led me to this one. Nighty.

Another Kovacs. YT commenters suggest she's a good fit for a James Bond film theme.

Your welcome Mitch. Reading up on the bands Wiki right now I'm finding out alot of things I didn't know about them.
It has been ages since I heard this one by them as well.

DLD, I still have the last hour of that opera to finish so I'm getting that done now. -Later.

Completed.Very refreshing.Stunning performances by all. I really like Oszvald Marika.

Gord...since you're a seasoned but also curious music connoisseur, the next time you're having a few and you'd like to entertain me...

...kindly grab a pair of headphones and take a listen?

***But you need headphones for the experience.***

[Excuse the minor profanity...you know the youth these days.]

What do you think?

First impression? Ariana Grande is very good. I've heard her before(I'll have to explore/post more of her.) I'm not that familiar with Drake yet but that one sounds like he's on the right page. Let me get more familiar with his music and post back in a bit. Thanks man. -Beers.

//I use earbuds...boo, that's reality right now. :) haha.

Her individual clip was deleted,so here's the full musical (her number is at 1:27 ... the live co-star reaction is half the price of admission). It's from the same show as "Manuela".

Do you hear anything different about it? Maybe you do and you're already familiar with it, but it's 8D audio.

A lot of people only listen to music this way in which it "circles" your head and goes back-and-forth between ears.

Wondering how some of these operas would sound...probably a trip!
