Hi all,
I am a long time lurker, first time poster. I have recently upgraded my DVX100b to a shiny new HVX200e with two 16 gig P2 cards, with the hope of shooting and editing my own material. The problem lies in the fact I am an Avid editor from PAL land. To this date Avid has been famously slow in allowing 720p at PAL frame rates (25 or 50) however, one of the reasons we purchased the camera was to take advantage of the varicam technology, which is obviously only possible in 720pn.
So my question to you all is; What is your edit workflow? I am wondering if there is a way of loading the 720p MXF data from the P2 cards into an NLE other than Avid, then exporting that footage as 1080p QTs, which would be accepted by Media composer. Would uprezzing like that cause any discernable quality loss?
If anyone has suggestions for a good workflow I am all ears. I am shooting a music video on Saturday and need to know if I can shoot 720p native to make use of over and under cranking, or whether I should stick to 1920 x 1080 to guarantee compatibility.
Thanks
Rich
