heres my late entry to the zombie fest haha. I ran across this today, I totally forgot about this movie, I've done so much since then.

basically I started over and made a short piece with the footage I already had. We shot a comedy version of this film on the side for fun, which I never got to finish. I redid the color correction, without magic bullet and worked on the pacing of the film. After watching the original version, I realize you had to be on crack to keep up with it.

That looked really good dude. I was really impressed with the image quality and shots.

Not sure what this was about though. Maybe that doesn't matter, I watched the whole thing which is more I can say for a real milk ad.

Why do people, when faced with a zombie, knife wielding maniac, hockey masked moron, etc. always seem to forget the simple basics in life.
1. Look where you are going, this prevents tripping
2. Don't look back, you're in a movie, he's still there
3. Running upstairs in a house really limits your escape routes
4. Shoot to kill, then dismember, separate, burn and scatter
5. Never turn your back on the thing you think you killed (see #4)

Otherwise, I really liked it. Want to see more.

that was awesome! what equipment did you use to get such an awesome look!? those fast pan shots didn't even seem to strobe. Did you shoot them in 60i? did you use additional lighting for outside?

that was absolutely amazing, and i want to see more of it. How did you do the pans and what did you use for the eyes effects and the face effects on the one guy. also what did you do during color correction? it looks beautiful. Sorry for my noobness:(

Awesomely shot and edited. Really like the blueish/grey look....very consistent. I need to do a zombie film....they look fun to do.

I laughed out loud really hard with this!!!!

Great look and editing, btw. The glow effect on the eyes was a bit hokey, but the blood fx were great, and the sound made it sickeningly realistic. Great job!

I'm thirsty...

thx.. for the comments guys. I'll keep posting the clips if you wanna see more. I got another one for ya.

I'm guessing most of you miss the zombiefest? well here is a good opportunity to sell the zombie dvd jared has up for sale. Buy the dvd here -->

There were alot of good films with good stories behind it. Some dude manage to finish his short film after the hurricane incident, I think its in the top 3. I don't mind the "noob" questions, I too was once a noob.. a year ago haha. I'm glad you find the ending to be funny because it was suppose to be "to be continued", I did it for kicks cuz random stuff is hilarous to me anyway. I thought about doing it again for this next scene I just finished. But you guys will see it coming...
download it here.

I'm very proud of this scene, I think its my favorite. What do you guys think of the acting in this scene? I'm sure they'd love to hear your thoughts.

To answer some questions. Coffee- I had one but it was confusing to everyone. What made it worse was the 5 minute time limit, too much to tell in such a short amount of time. I think thats what hurt the film the most.

Strobe shots: We shot this in the afternoon so there was alot of light, I cranked up the shutter speed to 1/250. For color correction I used vegas. Its pretty simple just drag the color wheel to blue. and to crush the blacks, I use color curves. You have to make sure you get your technical stuff right on set too. I shot this with the dvx obivously, factory settings 24PA. ND filters was at 1/8 most of the time.

There are some pics below. take a look. For the eyes, I did rotoscoping, basically drawing the eyes in frame by frame. It's very tedious. I'm working on other sections of the movie right now i'll post them up whenever they are done.

theres a couple more in here.

Dang! That's great grading. I'm just watching those clips now, very impressive. The acting in the kondlikebar clip is amazing, it made me feel sad and I don't even know what's going on yet, or know anything about the characters...so excellent work there!

Great shots in there, the only one I wasn't too fond of was the one of the guy spitting out blood in the '300200' clip. Also, I wasn't too keen on the roto'd zombie eyes. Maybe if they were desaturated to suit the grading I would like it more.

Those are my only criticisms though, nice clips, I'd like to see more, this footage would have to be one of my favourite straight-DVX videos I've seen. Great work!

Thanks Hiro for sharing. You answered some questions I had. I guess my ONLY nitpick would be when she shoots the dude in the head there is absolutely NO kick from the gun. Other than that I really enjoyed this one. Tim.

****in great. seriously- the music fit great too. you compose? acting was very good- that girl is a very strong emotional character. cc is amazing.

nice work. always been a zombie fan movie fan. what's with the got milk at the end?? don't get it. anyone care to explain..
