Hey guys,

I am shooting my first wedding in about three weeks. I only have a t2i and hv20 to shoot with and was wondering if that would be sufficient. Do you think I would be able to cover everything with these two cameras?

Here is my list of equipment:

  • T2i
  • Hv20
  • Kit lens, 50mm 1.8 & Tokina 11-16mm
  • rode videomic
  • Zoom h1
  • Glidecam hd2000
  • Tripod

I use a HMC151, 550d and SD100. The SD100 is probably quite similar in IQ to the HV20 so I guess the main differentiator is the 151. This is my main camera for the ceremony and speeches however.

The 550d/T2i will not film continuously for long so you will need the HV20 for this. Your main issue will be with the amount of light that the camera requires. I think you will get away with it if you are doing this for free, or for a very low cost, but you will need a proper camcorder to do a really professional job (at least 1/3" CCDs or CMOS x3 is what you are looking for.

One other tip, the sigma 30mm 1.4 lens is great for video on the 550d, I find 50mm a bit too long to be really useful and the kit lens is relatively slow.

Thanks for the response! So the hv20 and t2i footage will not be too close looking? I'll have to do some test shots to see.
