Wedding Question!?

Hi. I've decided to upgrade from my DVX to a 7d and will be mostly be filming weddings, also this will be my only camera. My question is, I read that after 15 minutes the sensor gets too hot and turns the camera off? If that's the case how do you film the 30 minute ceremony? Thanks for the help in advance!

Wedding videography is dangerous enough with one camera that can record the entire service. You need another, possibly 3rd camera.

I've done a wedding where the ceremony was an hour and a half. What do you plan on doing then?

I'm a wedding photographer, getting into video, and even with my limited video experience, consider having a regular camcorder a must. I wouldn't even consider showing up at a shoot with just one camera, and feel comfortable when I have a spare, and an assistant with a camera and spare of their own. One 7D shooting stills would be a disaster waiting to happen; video would just increase the odds.

Thanks wow I was really set on having the 7d as my only cam, but it looks like I am going to have to invest in a camcorder as well..

Well truth is..it depends alot on the temp of the room before it over heats. I shot a training video for 1.5 hours straight and did not over heat once. But the room was 70. Same building differnt room ..differnt temp..overheated in 30 minutes. So i would have some sort of back up if you are doing anything live and have just one shot at it.

A friend of mine shoots weddings, the times he's been saved by having a second camera as a master shot are numerous. I wouldn't touch a wedding with one camera, let alone one camera with a 15 minute limit.

I shoot weddings with the 7D but came from the HMC150, no way can you shoot with just one camera, I got two T2i's as backups and now they're basically all running for the ceremony, its also nice when you dont have to remount for Steadicam, Slider, Monopod, etc. The T2i's cut fantastically with the 7D unlike the HMC150 or any other camcorder I've tried, try the T2i route they're great and cheap.
