Was going to wait for the next big thing, but...

Maybe haul the elliptical around town and have normal people trying it out on the street. Of course filming it all with the new 7D. Anyway good luck with the new camera and exercise equipment.

the key challenge, for me, will be fleshtones. most everything I've seen seems to push toward yellow in otherwise neutral lighting. camera should be arriving today.

I can't speak specifically about the 7D but I think the picture profiles are almost identical to the 5D. I find it slightly weak in the blue channel which can give skintones that orange look. I shoot everything neutral 0 sharpness, -4 contrast, -2 saturation. With a good white balance I haven't seen any oompa loompas. I generally de-saturate a bit more, add some brown to the mids, and crush the blacks a little in color or 3way CC to give a more filmic look. A bit of film grain hides the aliasing and H.264 macro-blocking a bit too. I'm going to try the neat video denoiser demo on some dark moody apartment scenes on a 6min short I'm cutting.

The orange skin look I think is mostly due to people shooting with standard setting. Some of Bloom's stuff looks slightly orange I think due to the street lighting. Perhaps the canon lens coatings could be a factor too. I'm using old nikon ai primes.

You can work around the codec and color controls, the only thing I can't work around is the judder on slow pans. I have a post in the middle of my living room and no matter what settings/speed/lens/exposure I try the judder is there every time I pan past the post.
