WarFEST Official Rules (NOW POSTED)

speaking of "greenlight", I've just added a new reflecmedia 8'x8' Chromakey bundle kit courtesy of Guy Cochran and DVeStore to the prize list... Worth $1575.

Well lost my main actor so back to casting before I can move on with my project I had in mind, hopefully I will find one soon.

so how's everyone doing on this thing?

After being sick in bed for weeks my project was dead in the water. Before falling ill I had all my ducks lined up. After rescheduling I had lost my actors, locations and missed the weather window. After enjoying an indian summer and perfect weather, by the time I got better winter was in full display. After despairing all this week the weather gods have smiled and we're having a freak clear day tomorrow, which is coincidently the only day my outdoor location (which I have to get guerilla this time) might be deserted. I feel duty bound to take it as a sign. As long as noone decides to picnic we should be good. While the script I wrote can't be done, I have no idea what the final story is going to be, missing some vital props...I'm determined to submit something. I've grabbed a couple of friends and we're going to wing it, shoot some stuff and hopefully be able to write around it later with the indoor scenes.

Well, I'm glad I didn't go to the trouble of making a film thread.

I put off an ERCP surgery a couple months so I could get something made for this. Easy to do when the pain isn't that bad and not too often :) However it's gotten pretty horrible and had yet another ER visit so it looks like I can wait no longer. If a miracle occurs and I still have time to get something made, I'll try my best. OItherwise it looks like I'm out.

Is this fest cursed or something!?

Use the trip to hospital and make it a war wound! Should be enough time in the waiting room alone to write, shoot and edit a film :)

Minor typo: "War Fest Run Dates
Shooting dates start now. The dates to make your film are from April 15th, 2012 to August 16th, 2012. The deadline for uploads will be August 16[SUP]th[/SUP], 2011, at 4pm Pacific Daylight(?) Time."

Should be a "2012," unless this is also TimewarpFest...

So I guess I'm at a disadvantage if I decide to use a DVX then
Not true.... you're at a disadvantage if you DON'T make and enter a film. I can think of a bunch of films that were shot on the most expensive cameras available at the time...and they were just terrible. It's more about the story.

Give it a shot, you'll get valuable feedback (and some not so valuable) and the more films you make..... the more you learn....and the better you get! :)

Nonono I meant this from the rules " by conflict we mean WAR, not a fight. A 6 minute fight between two people, or a one-time spat, will probably not cut it. Conflict. War. Please see the next post for additional info (coming) and examples of acceptable use of the "war" theme. It should be pretty clear what we mean though (I hope)."

I´m thinking in making a short but war is not a theme, it´s a scenario to me, so I´m a bit confused about what you want. ;D

Mac is entering? Let the race for second place begin. :)

Seriously, I really hope you enter. I love all your films and I always learn so much from them.

I'm picturing a couple scantily clad hot models and a pillow fight....let the battle begin!

...and lets see what that new camera of yours can do.
