DVXFest – War FEST – Official Rules​
  1. Make a movie about conflict that is 6 minutes (or less) and does not exceed a hard R rating (if you are unsure, ask first). Please note: by conflict we mean WAR, not a fight. A 6 minute fight between two people, or a one-time spat, will probably not cut it. Conflict. War. Please see the next post for additional info (coming) and examples of acceptable use of the "war" theme. It should be pretty clear what we mean though (I hope).
    1. 6 minutes and 1 second is a disqualification
  2. You must use a DVXuser sanctioned leader as the first moving images in your film.
    1. Leaders available at: www.dvxfest.com/leaders
    2. You only have to use the visuals (any included audio is not required)
    3. The use of the leader does NOT count as part of your 6 minutes. Everything else will.
  3. You must use the following 3 letters in your film: "DVX". This may be represented visually, or as dialog. Feel free to be creative with this required element. But, please make it clear (to those of us looking for it). You will be required to provide a still frame and/or time stamp when you upload your film.
  4. You must use original or licensed material in your film. Failure to do so will result in disqualification. DVXuser (or its partners) assumes no liability for copyright violations. We will make a good faith effort to identify any and all copyright violations in submitted entries.
War Fest Run Dates​
Shooting dates start now. The dates to make your film are from April 15th, 2012 to August 16th, 2012. The deadline for uploads will be August 16[SUP]th[/SUP], 2012, at 4pm Pacific Daylight(?) Time.
War Fest Promotion​
  1. No more than 15 seconds of footage from your film is to be publicly displayed prior to the conclusion of the festival. (DVXuser may grant a waiver for live film festivals that premiere prior to the conclusion of DVXFest. You must make this request in writing prior to any public viewing.)
  2. You may promote your film (and dvxfest in general) on, or outside of, DVXuser.com. Please do not register to websites simply to spam links to your fest entry. Utilize channels and communities you are already involved in. “Spammy” behavior will be grounds for disqualification.
*DVXuser reserves the right to alter or edit these rules until May 1st, 2012.
**While it is our goal to publicly screen all entries that meet the above qualifications, DVXuser reserves the right to refuse entry for any reason.

Q. Can I make my own custom DVXFest leader for use in my film?
A. Yes. you may. But, only with prior written approval by me first. Send me a copy to see, and if it is ok, I will approve it. One caveat though. If you make a leader for dvxfest, you agree to make it freely available to future dvxfest participants. You can have a unique leader for the fest you create it for. After that time, the leader falls into the "dvxfest public domain" if you will. It will go with the rest of our leaders, so that others can make use of it in the future if they choose. Make sense?

I'm really psyched about the theme - great choice.

I hope the requirements are open - let's all just focus on making the best shorts possible.

LOL, I just had to answer this image!

0414122137 copy.jpg Yep, had breakfast with him one morning. And just had to get an autograph, and when he found out I was known as "Doc" he couldn't resist! Looking to get a BB animation cell, so I can frame it with the cell. A high point in my career.

The rules will be pretty straightforward. You can look at last fest rules for a general idea. There will be a required element of some sort. I will try to not make it to crazy or anything. Just for verification purposes...

I'll go ahead and ask, would you guys prefer a prop, a line of dialog, a character name?
