Hi, i am developing my kit with vintage lenses and i am very happy with my rokkor 50 f1.4 and 135 f2.8 . I have bought a Kiron 28 f2 with old fd Mount but either it is broken or that Mount work only with their body(i have been told) as blades will not close/open. Anyway i will easily find a replacement wiht another rokko28 for example, or rokkor 35as i am very happy with these Minolta lenses. My main question is that i need a lens beetween 50 and 135. I look for rokkor 85 but they come out expensive. So ...any suggestion for a bargain and good lens to get in this focal distance between 50 and 135? thanks

they both surely nice ones, but for bargain i meant under 100, like the other rokkor i bought. more than 100 i can still get a rokkor 85. But i get the nice habit to buy rokko 50 and 135 for 50 each..and i was wandering if i coulg get a 85 for a similar price

Canon FD 100mm 2.8 SSC is very nice, I got mine for £30 from ebay. Any of the 85mm lenses are good (Pentax Takumar SC/SMC in m42, Olympus OM mount , Canon FD in FDn and SSC, old soviet Jupiter 9 in m42 or LTM is interesting) and all can be had for your budget if your patient. Plenty of options in the 135mm range and a fair few at 100mm for the same makes.

are you sure? just had a look but price seems very different, higher.i doubt could find somenthing in 50 euro range if average is 150..all of those you indicates seems to have much bigger prices

Absolutely. With Ebay you just need to be patient, ignore buy-it-know and look for auctions only, check every 4-5 days and stuff comes up quite often, set yourself a bid limit and don't go past it. My FD 28mm cost £21, the 200mm £32, the 100mm £31.50.

update. i got the rokkor 35 70., very nice lens. that is f3.5 constant and is not too bad, though when thinking to buy cvintage lens i Always looked for at least 2.8. anyway, going back to topic. having a 50 a 35-70 and a 135 i think the 85mm i was looking for might not be more needed. i think i might move the need to another middle range focal that is between 70 and 135..and i can see a 100mm like the proper one. Suggestions? again some bargain lens in this range?

Choice is somewhat limited in that focal range, but you should be able to pick up a Pentax Takumar 105mm F2.8, pretty much any 135mm at F2.8 or F3.5, or Jupiter 9 85mm F2.8 in m42 mount, maybe a Canon FD 100mm F2.8. You may get a 85mm F1.8, if you're lucky/patient. Tamron do a SP 90mm F2.5 in an adaptall mount (you can get m42 and other adaters for it). There are Rokkor's in 90mm Leica M mount, plus you may be able to pick up an a genuine older Leica Elmar 90mm F4 in leica thread mount (you see these quite often and they're not expensive) or Olympus OM mount 75-150mm F4.

but you think is a correct way to think in this way...so that if i have a 35-70 lens then i don't need a prime 85 or 35 or 28 being so colose to the zoom range?considering that a 28 or 35 or 85 prime most probabibly will be 2.8f so just 1 step less then the zoom.do you think is correct to think it in this way, if i have a zoom lens that cover some range i don't need prime in that range?

It really depends on the conditions you film in and what you are filming. I have no zooms, only primes, however I only shoot narratives and I have a great amount of control of the filming conditions. I can take the time to swop lenses as required and control lighting, etc.
