What is the deal my Vimeo account was just cancelled for a joking comment of "u just suck" lol :Drogar-Thinking(DBG that is so beyond aggravating...

Jeez, I'm sure you can call em and explain the situation. Better be careful with bad language in the future, that goes for all of us posters I guess!

Well, that "sucks"...

Well, that "sucks"...

The public policing of opinions in this day and age blows my mind.

Youtube has better HD quality, they stream on most mobile devices, and they have a huge slew of tracking tools to see which parts of your video are gaining the most attention. I personally see no benefit on being on Vimeo over Youtube at this moment.

No offense but that's kind of a useless comment- perhaps they want to bring a little decorum back to the internet...

Maybe they just don’t want it to turn into another YouTube.

This is probably their community manager's greatest fear :) YouTube comments are like a massive collection of the dumbest things ever said on the interwebs.

That being said, that totally... sucks ?

Vimeo isn't public.

They set the rules.

That being said, the comment to me at least was hardly offensive, but it is somewhat overused and meaningless, like "awesome," "rocks," and "dude."

i totally agree that Youtube has some of the dumbest comments ever made by humandkind
vimeo is better than the tube in so many ways

As a recent victim of insulting comments on vimeo I now don't have much tolerance for bad language used in forums. People should be try to be "better" than that.

Frankly, I haven't read Vimeo's terms of use, but I am sure that it includes "we reserve the right to refuse service to anyone" sort of thing. You weren't a Plus user, were you?

no but the fact that you can't use the word suck even in a joking manner is ridiculous... I feel like im back in kindergarten... what has happened to the reinforcement of negative comments and peoples ability to take them in stride... I love negative comments just as much as positive ones... regardless of their relevance and detail...

I think it is not about particular words. It is about reserving the right to refuse service to anyone. You had it for free? You cannot complain.

I'm actually happy Vimeo is more strict with language. If they didn't they'd quickly hit the level of youtube. Youtube is swamped with stupidity and hate speech that flies under the radar.

Vimeo is no different than being here, though we have a sense of humor and more leeway when it comes to language.

That stinks that they cancelled your account. I think they should have warned you first.

Although I'm not a fan of censorship at any level, Vimeo is a WAAAYYYYY nicer environment than Youtube, now I know why LOL
But I still love Youtube for what it is, a truely democratized forum where any idiot with an internet connection can upchuck his thoughts on the the public walls. Haters, helpers, hurters, lovers, a-holes and d-heads posting freely with complete equality and empowerment. Welcome to the WORLD!!!!
