Villain Fest - Viewing / Rating - Technical Issues Thread

Has anyone successfully downloaded zip 2 or 3? Zip 1 downloaded fine, told me how much time was left in the download and how much still remained. 2 and 3 give me an unknown time left and always stop at about the 240MB point.

I got them all... no problems...servers might be a bit strained...give it a bit & try again.

That happened to me on the last fest. If you get the "unknown time left" thing just stop the download and start over. It'll keep aborting when that happens.

Thanks Hawk, finally got them to go! Time remaining on both downloads. Got a look at Apropos and really liked it. Detailed review on your link soon.

Spoke too soon. Both crapped out at 100MB. I'll try tomorrow, not in the mood to objectively review anyone's film at the moment.

Gave up on download - am streaming them instead. I can view all but these 2...

Dependence (no sound...have tried three times)

Villain of the Month (Get error: Warning: filesize() [function.filesize]: stat failed for /home/fest_admin/dvxfest.com/mirror/villain2011/entries/Villain_of_the_Month-Lynchenstein.mp4 in /home/fest_admin/dvxfest.com/villainfest/watch.php on line 57)

Edit: Also...

Meet the Millers link opens Psychopathy again...

Having all sorts of issues whether downloading or streaming.
Streaming is not working at all right now and downloading is incredibly slow. :(
Getting these a lot when attempting to download.

Entry ID: 4700908 does not reference a valid file.

All zips fail at around 140MB, films wont stream, trying to download individual films gets me

[h=1]DVXfest.com - Download Error[/h]

Entry ID: 4700901 does not reference a valid file.

Right now I cant watch any of them.

Is there a timeout on the download script? Its the logical conclusion to my always getting the same amount of data!
I have a 2MB link which always closes after around 70s.

I also have no sound from Dependence (downloaded the zip files). I'll try snagging it individually to see if that works.

Villain of the month is a non starter

Ok, found a bug in the individual downloads .. .fixed that, they should download correctly now.

Exhibition entry links show the correct film now in the embedded viewer.

I checked the zip files and they are valid files ... timeouts unfortunately occur when too many connections to a server exist. Also some ISPs will throttle large downloads and can cause the link to break due to too much time elapsing. I don't have control over these other than bringing other mirrors online, but the zips are so large it takes quite a while to get too many of them set up quickly. I'm trying to bring more online, so please continue trying or try the individual downloads (which are now working correctly).

Sorry it took me so long to get back to these issues. I was out all day yesterday, but worked hard the night before to get everything ready so I could get it all online for you yesterday. I got it up and a quick cursory check looked like things were ok, then I headed out and was away from an internet connection until this morning.

Hopefully the bulk of the issues are resolved for you and the experience going forward is much smoother.

Larry, The same problems be all still there and ****: No sound for Dependence...and error code for Villain o' the Month.

The servers are being worked hard ... I am working on figuring out better ways to handle this in the future. But for now, the old adage is the best, if you have a problem try re-downloading the film.

I just tried the ones you mentioned and I see that Dependence got interrupted a couple times and I had to re-download a third time to get a complete download.

I know its kind of a hassle, and I apologize for that. I am working on improving the whole system, so hopefully these problems will diminish over time.

I still encourage people to download the zips, that way you can watch them a few times or pause them easier, in quicktime at least.
