Viewing Options For P2 On Mac

Are there any other ways to view DVCPRO HD footage on a Mac besides having an NLE with a DVCPRO HD codec?

The client has a MacBook, but doesn't have an NLE. He wants to view the footage as is uncompressed. It's my understanding that P2CMS works in association with your NLE, which means without an NLE with a DVCPRO HD codec, P2CMS is useless.

Any help would be appreciated.

how would he be taking it in? you giving him the card? if you are giving him the footage on a hard drive then that's fine. Give him the FCP imported .mov files and he can watch it using videolan.org VLC player

P2CMS works WITHOUT an NLE...you can install it and use it to view the raw MXF files without needing FCP or Premiere.

Not exactly -- you need to install the FCP DVCPRO-HD quicktime components, which are only available on an FCP install disc.

It'll work fine for DV or DVCPRO, but for DVCPRO50 or HD you'll need to install those Quicktime components. Imagine Software has an install utility that'll work if you have an FCP5 installation CD.

Ooops.

Operating software
• Mac OS X 10.4.10
• Quick Time 7.2.0
requirements for P2 HD playback
• Apple Final Cut Pro 5.1.4

The DVCProHD codecs have to be installed via FCP 5.1.4 or later.

You do need those little buggers
