GH3 VIDEO: Panasonic Lumix GX7 kills my GH3....INSANE VIDEO PERFORMANCE!!!

Might be great image – but of what use if you don't have a mic input?

And compression rate is much lower than GH3 too.

Well I haven't found a reliable way to synch sound for my work (documentaries = without slate) without a mic input. How do you sync sound with external recorder? I mean for other work than just camera test overlaid with music...

And to the compression rate: It might hold up until you try to color correct it. But 28mb/s for 50/60p is considered proxy quality
 
How is a GX7 a pre-release camera? It was released last year.

Also, can you elaborate on what you mean by "INSANE VIDEO PERFORMANCE!!!" please? Sharpness? Dynamic Range? Something else?
 
Honestly I don't see anything in that video that blows away the GH3? What are we supposed to be looking for here? It actually seems pretty comparable to what I have seen in good situations from the GH3 and GH2. Heck I have shot some amazing stuff on a hacked GH1.

It is nice but to me equally nice to the GH3.
 
It was PRE-RELEASE when I made the video. This is an old video... I just happened to just now post it. I am not a BIASED fanboy...lol I have a GH3.
 
Epic music... that picnic must have been incomparably intense. Must be a lot of subtext in the grilled chicken.

I like the colors and motion, etc... heard several places that GH4 has a similar species of sensor, gives me hope that a pre-order won't be folly.

The main thing for me was the dynamic range, which coming from a GH2/GH3 perspective this looks a fair bit better, the highlights are generally holding and the shadows are open.

I am hoping that the GH4 is another step up from this.

Yes I agree Dingo.... I will upload another flat version....the DR is insane for a $899 camera. The sharpness is great and it holds the shadows but if you overexpose not much u can do to bring back the highlights.

Thanks for sharing! A flat/ungraded version would be great. It would be even better if you could upload a short clip of the original files. I'm looking to purchase this camera myself!

Second, how do we know you took the vid with a gx7? It's title "pre-release video blah blah". It's 2014 man, the gx7 came out last year.
