Looks good Matt. Curious as to why you chose 709-log. Was this purely for the quick turn-a-round or were you handing this off to someone else and didn't want them to mess around with the grade?
Great looking piece!
May I ask a simple questions?
What approach did you take to white balancing the camera for the different locations/lighting?
Do you know what "finessing" was applied?
Yup, super fast turnaround, as in two days to edit.
It's all beautifully delivered to the client's requirement.
The Washington shot could, IMHO, have faired better with a bit of C-Log - whilst the average viewer will have no problem, I could see a LOT of bounce being used.
C-Log, with a little bit of bounce (less of the gold reflector, more of the flat white) could have pushed a more natural look rather than 'News At Eleven'.
Sorry, I'm sounding negative. It's all good. Just pushing out the kind of mental memes that I'd have when looking at the rushes. 'Nobody will notice except us chickens'
But then again, Rec709 is a horrible 20 year old standard that haunts our post produciton like Banquo's Ghost! LOL
Nice looking stuff, Matt- love the subtle moves, too.
What made you choose 709 over WDR for quick turnaround?
Were the talking heads primes and the b roll the Canon? Lots of hoops to jump through to shoot the Capitol on sticks & slider?
thanks
