Video Equipment Charity Raffle - $7,500 in prizes - $5 Tickets!!

Thanks, I left a link to it up on my facebook page so others can see it and learn about your cause.

You should probably make the credit card field 16 digits so no one skips over the fine print.

This broke college student bought 1 ticket! I feel good about myself now...I would feel even better if I won!!

I tried again a few days ago, bu with no success. I didn't type any spaces, so that wasn't the problem. Neither did I use the "ö" in my name.

I'll try in IE later and see if I get lucky :)

UPDATE:
We will be extending the deadline a few weeks so we can get closer to our goal. I apologize to everyone who has already purchased tickets. An e-mail will be sent to all ticket holders soon.

Even with the deadline extension it is doubtful we will raise enough money to buy a used van. If that is the case we will be using 100% of the funds raised to make upgrades to our learning center (additional classroom, storage room, new roof, playground equipment, etc.). The upgrades are just as necessary as a van, just not as cool. lol

Thanks again to everyone who has already bought tickets.

PK - On what sites have you posted about this? I'm prepared to harass in places you haven't been.

We're at $3,000 now. Which is great, but still far from our goal. We'll definitely be pushing back the deadline a few weeks so we can raise some more money and make the most of these great prizes. All ticket holders will receive an e-mail soon with details.

Jason - It's being advertised here and on HV20.com . We've also promoted it on Facebook. If you could hit some more places that would be great! The deadline will be changing so hold off a few days, until it's confirmed.

pranic - Thanks a lot!!!

These are pretty obvious but I would definitely post on:

Creative Cow
dvinfo.net
dvcreator.net forums
Craigslist

I can't believe no one has posted in any of those places! Should sell at least a few more tickets.

The raffle deadline has been moved to June 10th.

An e-mail was sent to all ticket holders. Please check your inbox or your junk folder. :)

So far we have raised nearly $3,500 and sold more than 300 tickets. By extending the deadline there's a good chance we can reach our goal of $7,000. We'll be posting in some of the other forums mentioned in order to reach more people. Thanks for the suggestions.

If you haven't already, please tell your friends and family about the raffle. Even if they're not filmmakers they can still buy a few tickets for the iPod.

Thanks again for DVXuser's support. Your money has already made a difference. Look!!!

Have you thought about the IFC? The one in KC ifckc.org and most (I think there is one in every city) have a website they will post a link to your auction. They are full of indies who might buy tickets / need gear. Hit the ones in the big indie towns first like Austin. If I think of anything else I'll send you an email.

Ok, I just tried it in Internet Explorer and it still doesnt work.

Any other idea on how to get it to work? Or maybe via paypal?

Thanks for the suggestions, ChipG. This week we'll be contacting a lot more websites.

Simon - Sorry the system is still causing you problems. If you want to use PayPal you can send your payment to jammarrac (at) vownet (dot) net and then PM me the items, and amount of tickets you want. Thanks for your interest in helping.

Wish you all could have seen the kids playing on the playground yesterday. It was standing room only. :) And in a few weeks we'll have a beautiful new classroom for them too. Thanks everyone!!

Thanks!

Hi PK,

Just happened to see this thread over on dvinfo.net. I was curious, started reading about your organization and cause, then finally ordered a few raffle tickets!

Good luck and hope you get the van

Thanks, Jing and MadJava!

Chris over at DVinfo was very receptive and immediately started promoting the raffle on his site. He also bought some tickets too! Thank you, Chris!

John Burkhart at Videomaker was also kind enough to help us promote the charity event and buy some tickets. Thanks, John!

UPDATE:
Here's how some of your raffle tickets have already made a difference.

A new roof, classroom, storage room, and a few more improvements to our free learning center ($1,500).

Also, a new playground for our students ($300).

We had 12 new students yesterday. The upgrades must be the reason why. Thanks, everyone!

This morning Isara provided supplies to the 150+ Hmong Refugees who have been locked up, behind bars, for more than two years. About 90 of them are children and, because of you, they'll sleep a little more comfortable tonight.

We used $300 from the raffle to buy 100 pillows (less than $2 each) and a lot of toys, teddy bears, food, sports equipment and diaper cloths. Thank you to everyone who has participated in our raffle.
