just shot a whole movie with a 7d but took it back to best buy this weekend... not bc i knew the t2i was coming out but just bc i hated having that much money in it... i am pretty on board for the t2i to be honest

You get what you pay for. There's reasons it's going for 900 bucks. The 1700 dollar version is "crippled" as it is. I'd still love to see comparisons

As Barry Green has already mentioned....that does NOT mean it will be at the cost of VIDEO functionality. We've already seen that this is NOT the case with the 5D compared to the 7D....the D5000 compared to the D90....so the precedence is that this IS NOT the case with HDSLRs. One reason why is that it is considered a SECONDARY USAGE. Sure the video is the same....but the photo functionality is CERTAINLY NOT. ....not for sure....but not so fast....

I honestly don't understand this comment. They are two different classes of cameras... What is crippled?

They're all poor video images... why waste the time downgrading to cheaper tech that won't resale for much at all when the real deal comes around? You end up paying an extra 200 to 300 in what you lose trying to get rid of your 7D...

Still more moire, same ol' aliasing, probably less netted dynamic range.

No thanks. Please release a better image.

IF the video is equal, I will probably end up selling; then picking up two T2i's. That's also if the re-sale value of these 7D's doesn't drop to like 1200 bucks with them flooding the market... Hopefully not.

I already saw one on Craigslist for about $1300. So i guess they did drop.

AGREED! ....if you decide to release the same tech (or close to it) for 1/2 the cost....that's fine too.

...but seriously....please do release a 4k, RAW Video Scarlet killer. And make it for the cost of the 5d Mark II. :)

Kholi, do you feel the GH1 gives a poor video image as well? Is this primarily due to aliasing - or? I have been researching the GH1 as well as the 7D for certain shots, and noticed that you seemed to like the GH1 when it first came out, but 'advertise' 4x7D's in your signature and no GH1's. I was thinking this must be because you settled on the 7D's over the GH1, is that not correct? Or do you think they all suck now because of their 'issues'?

Awesome joke. Haha.

I can't wait for the DSLR that can shoot a continuous 24FPS RAW without having to have a fullblown computer to back it up! 2020 is gonna be an insane time for filmmaking.

I think between the four video capable 24p Canon DSLRs the 7D is the best "middle ground" version. I'm basing it off IQ (and price) which seems to be the same accross the board.....except I'm not sure about this new camera. I would love to get a second cam but the video so far looks soft...er 2 me.

http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/member.php?u=10937Kholi and HHL touched on what I was meaning to say. If you don't have a 7D, it may be wise to get a T2i, but there's still a lot of features the 7D has that the T2i doesnt. Possibly more than we know. Different sensor than the 7D and only 1 DIGIC processor. Lets see what test footage says. Vimeo doesnt count.

They're all very terrible for a professional environment or any environment that demands results. The GH-1 is still the best in a category of "the worse", which probably doesn't mean much. The only reason I have so many 7Ds is because the 7D had two advantages in a working world: Live Video Feed and No need to do a pulldown on footage.

Otherwise, the GH-1's the most versatile and overall better looking DSLR video image, to me.

Still love the camera. If I didn't have to live off of this stuff then I would probably still have them to play with. 7Ds and RED (and all other tech) are great propellers to have 'round here.

If RED can compress 3/4/5K RAW in the size of their cameras, I'm sure others can as well if they wanted to. They just don't want to yet.

I didn't say they couldn't... it just won't be at the price of an MKii. It takes a lot of processing power for RED and hardware to do what it does, Epic and Scarlet follows suit.

I mean, just look at the 7D as it is now: overheating while putting out a subpar 1080 image???? What's it going to do with 4K? Vanish into thin-air?
