versus Sony A33/A55

Was pricing out a t2i with a buddy who works for a camera store, and I mentioned I liked the 60D's articulating screen, but not sure if I like it enough to spend a couple more hundred $ on it.

He recommended the Sony A33/A55, saying they are priced about the same as the T2i, but have this translucent glass sensor thing which is all the rage from SLR enthusiasts or something... supposed to make the shutter faster, won camera of the year from popular photography, etc... they all have articulating screens and supposedly great features for video as well:
Motion stabilizer (or whatever sony's version of image stabliization is)
Auto focus during filming (is it true Canon's can't do this?)
Longer film time (does not cut off at 12-15 min, but rather has a heat sensor and can run until it gets too hot and needs a break- apparently with a heat sink system in place, you can film a long time).

But there is little to no mention of these cameras on this forum. As a current owner of a DVX, I look to you guys for advice as to where to go from here, and I've loved this Canon DSLR subforum so far.
So, basically, what I'm asking is 1) how to these Sony's compare and 2) why doesn't anyone talk about them if they are really so great?

Starting to speculate that the answers to 1 and 2 are related to each other, but other internet blogs/forums seem to LOVE this camera. What's the deal??

Well, first off,. they are pretty new cameras. I have heard some good things about them. Personally, I am a little hesitant on Sony products ( I had some issues with ones in the past). The whole translucent mirror thing seems a bit strange, but apparently it works. One thing I will say though is I think (note *think*) that the canons let more older lenses be adapted. You also may want to look at the codec that the Sony is using and compare it to the Canons. I am not sure.

Really, get what you think will make your movies better. The DVX is an interesting thing to come from, as the workflow is VERY different.

Interesting cameras. I played with one last week at a camera store.

The translucent mirror is amazing... no discernible light loss, and without the mirror having to move for exposure, it is faster. Nifty for stills, but for video...

I was not impressed. There are only three video modes: 1080/60i and 1080/30p for HD recording, and 480/30p. 1080/60i is great if all you are doing is broadcast, and you need to live and work in a 60i world. But lack of 24p is a killer for me. It won't matter to others, but I use 24p.

It might be good fo anamorpjic since it has 1440x1080,so maybe it records whole sensor not 16:9 crop, but it might be also 4:3 sensor crop which is not good .PAL has 25p
Im not sony fan too, theabsolutely dont care about customers and they like to throw barrels at their legs to make life harder.
