Vari ND for Pancake

Anyone using a vari nd filter for 52mm with the pancake? Ive been reading the step up adapter can interfere and mess with the electronics when autofocusing with the pancake lens. What adapters are people using?

i'm using my DIY 77mm vari-ND with about 7 step-up rings and autofocus works fine...still slow, but fine.
 
Just get 46mm to 77mm step up adapter.
I use 46mm to 52mm and 52mm to 77mm.
No vignetting.

On another note just got 3 teffen IRND filters. The image quality is excellent.

Hi Jonathan. I only find 37mm and 43mm Polaroid NDs. It looks like the 46mm may have been discontinued.

In looking at the youtube video it looked as though the upper corners seemed to darken more that the rest of the frame. Is it just me or did you or anyone else notice that?

Yes, there's definitely some vignetting on that shot, which could be lens or the nd...I don't know! It's quite a powerful effect though - a lot of range indeed.

For the price, it looks great. Especially compared to the price of a set of NDs.

The 46mm polaroid ND was there a week ago but the auction expired - it will return, I guess!

There is some slight vingetting because I stacked this faderND on top of a pretty thick TIFFEN uv filter. I don't get vingette on the 20mm with just the fader by itself. Not that I noticed anyway.

Just keep checking amazon again for the 46mm filter. I see them on there all the time, just not at the moment. LOL!

I have 46mm Cokin extension ring attached to the Panasonic 20mm pancake. Then I have 46 to 52 mm step up ring and finally 52mm Fader variable ND filter. At least this works well without problems.

Hey jonathan12ulz (or anyone using the polaroid on the 20mm), how does it work indoors? Do you get a lot of flaring and ghosting?
 
Having researched Fader NDs and seeing some tests that showed some horrible effects, I'm bypassing the Fader NDs in favour of a set of 3x Tiffen screw fit glass ND filters. 2 stops, 3 stops and 4 stops, all for about $35 on eBay, and excellent quality to boot...
