Var Nd filter error

hello, for some reason my Var Nd filter that i bought same as this http://cgi.ebay.com/Fader-ND-Filter...itu=UCC&otn=5&ps=63&clkid=7672456217507630405

has been giving a strip of darker area on the right side of the clip, and it is there on all the lenses i tired and not there when i dont use the nd filter..this strip shows on the clips, and depending on the light and what direction it comes from the strip might be shown more or fades away, anyone had this issue with this filter and any tips on how to get rid of it? thanks
here is a pic of what im talking about
http://uploadpic.org/showpic-71594/nd.html

ok solved this issue..it turned out to be lens flare coming in from the left side, i covered the left outer edge of the lens with a paper and this strip was gone, i think on a some particular angle this is happening , its not the nd filters fault ..

Ok..the issue is not as easy as i thought ..it is the GH1 sensor that is doing that ..ok one realy odd odd request , would a few people lease take one pic of the sensor (just clear pic of the sensor area, with out the lens attached) , would be nice to have a few of the first gh1's that came out (which i have) and the new one, i hope i do get a couple of responds .. what i found out when i looked at my sensor carefully is that the right side(the side where it says gh1) for some reason does not fully fit the sensor area, and thus u see that lighter strip..where the left side fully fits ..is it just my gh1 or all are like that?

on second thought, it might be very hard to get a good picture, i just tried, it would be just easier if you can tell me if you guys have the same thing..thanks again!

Well try this. Put your ND filter on and take some video. Stop it then turn the ND filter about a half turn like you were unscrewing it from the lens. Take another video and then compare the two. If the strip has moved then it is the filter for sure. If it didn't then this is interesting. The fact that it is so uniform almost looks like a sensor issue but you will just have to play with it like I mentioned to determine that.

Nijsuj, thanks for the tip~! thats exactly what i tried today, and thats why i came to the conclusion the its a sespr issue..this is issue is weird it does not happen all the time, only when the light hits the camera from a some special direction..so its hard to repeat, but its there ..thats y i looked at the sensor carefully the first time today and i found that same strip is there on the right side of the sensor (as if the sensor was not fully covered and this small strip is left lighter than the rest)..Again, if some can look at there sensor for me to see if this area on the right side is also there or is it just my gh1 (again mine was one of the first gh1's to come out),thanks again for any help!

well the sensor itself looks really uniform with no lines. I see the sensor looks slightly off center so I am guessing that is what you are saying. Maybe that has something to do with the filter. I haven't come across that before though but I don't have that ND either. Everything you said leads me to believe it is the ND filter because you said it doesn't happen when the ND filter is off.

srry nitsuji,it does happen when the nd filter is off ad no lens(i have tested for that today) ..so your sensor, u dont see a lighter shade of strip on the right side of sensor (the main sensor color is black almost) this small strip im talking about is alot lighter )dark green in color..I wounder if its just me, and if its just me, y did i not notice this before...

so no one else can just take a look at the sensor and see if it covers the whole square area ?or does it also have a tiny strip on right side not covered?thanks again

Same brown stripe on right side.

Same brown stripe on right side.

Just wondering if you resolved this issue as I have seen this twice but thought it might have been shutter related or I had some in camera setting wrong. It happens with my fader nd, but I haven't seen it any other time. Are you getting this with the kit lens or other lenses as well.
I just got my GH1 hacked and am shooting test footage this week so I will try to recreate it. BTW I have one of the early release GH1's.
Thanks
