UV or Polarizer?

I'm interested in getting a Polarizing filter for my lens and I was wondering if I can just keep that on all the time like you would a UV filter. Or would there be adverse effects if I wasn't shooting anything with reflection and what not? Does that make sense??

The biggest problem you'll have with that is the light loss (~2 stops I think). Up to you if thats going to get in the way or not.
