great to hear all of this
I'm a documentary shooter who shoots a lot in a day so 4K is out of the way for me as it would need to much SD cards and would be ridiculously expensive in hard drives
when using ETC in HD, does it still crops 'safely' in the 4K sensor or does it crops in the HD image ?
ETC in 1080p mode crops to the central 1080x1920 pixels of the sensor, for a 5.4X total crop factor. In 4K + ETC, it crops to the central 3840x2160 for a 2.7X total crop factor. Add 2X dig. zoom to this for 5.4X - same resolution as ETC in 1080p - but up-sampled to UHD dimensions. Comparing this to the 1080 + ETC, it's a bit more detailed with better gradation and slightly less noise in my comparisons.
